Proceeds to benefit charitable organizations

- Dodge Challenger No. 1 going to BJ (where else) to benefit notMYkid

- Dodge Challenger No. 2 to benefit United Way of Southeastern Michigan

- A Third Dodge Challenger will be auctioned off on eBay.com in early 2008

"Dodge is thrilled to build on the excitement of the countdown to the return of the Challenger by giving consumers the chance to get one of the first all-new 2008 Dodge Challenger vehicles produced," said Mike Accavitti, Director - Dodge Brand and SRT Marketing. "The Dodge Challenger is an icon and the revival of this storied nameplate has enthusiasts chomping at the bit to get one. Consumers now have the opportunity to not only own the car of their dreams, but to help those in less fortunate circumstances as well."

The vehicles chosen to be auctioned for charity will all be Street and Racing Technology (SRT(R)) models. Each will feature a HEMI(R) Orange exterior, hood stripes, a 6.1-liter HEMI V-8 engine, and a five-speed automatic transmission with Autostick(R).

Proceeds from Dodge Challenger No. 1 will benefit notMYkid, an organization dedicated to facilitating improved understanding about youth behavioral health issues including suicide, drug abuse, eating disorders and depression. Dodge Challenger No. 1 will be auctioned at the 37th annual Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction Event in Scottsdale, Ariz., Jan. 12-20, 2008.

Proceeds from Dodge Challenger No. 2 will benefit the United Way of Southeastern Michigan, through a private auction for Dodge dealers. The auction begins Sept. 26.

Information about the third Challenger to be auctioned via eBay.com will be announced at a later date.

I was at a Dodge dealership and was told that there will only be 3,000 2008 Challengers made..hopefully just a bad rumor

Good for them!  :2thumbs: :2thumbs:

The limited availability part doesn't surprise me at all though.

Press Release states E-bay auction to be held in early 2008 for the #3 car.

The auction for the #2 car is a private auction for Dodge dealers only. The auction does state its only for Dodge dealers...After a dealer wins, then it will probably appear on E-bay for all of us to dream of buying!

I think the dealer auction car will be bought up by some big $$$ investor type or Rapper. The limited production number doesn't surprise me. Less made the more cash they can get for them. Just like the Vipers, the only ones that will own them will be people that are afraid to go over 55.
Lots of people talkin' , few of them know

Having only performance engines in them assures a limited number too. If everybody buys an SRT just think what that would do to their CAFE averages.

terrible one

Cool, but that sucks about the production numbers and apparent pricing. Go the Mustang route! Not everyone can afford an optioned out new Hemi Challenger! Where's the V6? :shruggy:

69charger2002

well at least they won't be able to say.. see we produce a 2 door car and no one buys it.. because even at the sick prices they will go for, those 3000 will all get snatched up fast for sure. proving all they gotta do is build it. though it's a shame to make the REAL hobbyist/mopar lover wait an extra year to get a normal priced mass produced challenger that they can afford. i am a mopar NUT, would like nothing more than a SRT 08 challenger, and i even have some expendible cash, but you can bet your sweet ass i ain't paying $50k plus for one

What I've heard is that they are limiting the production of the SRT-8's to 3,000 or so vehicles. Not that they are limiting the whole production number to that. Then again the people I talked to could be wrong too.

Ghoste

I thought the original run were going to all be SRT's?  No powertrain options in the first year.

lumpy

It just goes to show you, nobody knows for sure what the heck is going on. I guess that's part of the fun, keeping us in suspense!! My question is, what about a manual trans in my Hemi Challenger !?!!? :shruggy:
