Well, I went ahead and installed my vinyl top with the help of my father in law and uncle.  I think it came out great considering it was my first one. It took almost 10 hrs. but was well worth it!

What kind of prep work is that on the roof?

White car, black top & tan interior? That's gonna look cool when it's done.

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

I went ahead and painted the whole car including the roof so it was sealed well.  We lightly sanded the roof to help the glue adhere and used 3M Super Duty Adhesive for vinyl tops.

ok so 10 hours is a long time.  i'm not being a jerk, but rather I know it takes a pro an hour or so.  what was hard about it, what would you do differently next time?

i think i'm installing my superbird top in the spring...i'd love to know some of the 'pitfalls' of the job.  what is the working time of the adhesive?

Two of us were beginners while the expert hadn't done one in years so we took it very slow.  It actually went on alot easier than I thought.  The expert was great to have because he knew right where to make cuts and stretches so that the top sat without wrinkles or bubbles.  10 hrs. included taping off the car, sanding and gluing it down.  We also had all the trim ready to go so that we could dry fit them to make sure everything sat well.  The glue sprays on and takes like 5 mins to set- I was very impressed ith the glue.  It even had a working time of one hour, so you can adjust as you see fit.  The big thing is making sure you have the top dead center on the roof so that the seams run straight. etc.

nice job, with that sail pannel I would think it would be a tough job.
