Have a local guy selling 440, described himself
...I have a 70's truck 440 that has been sitting in my shop for years it was a spair for my truck that I sold so now it need to go as well. I paid 500 back in the day but if I could get 300 core money out of it I would be happy.
the 318 is out of my other truck that got hit so it ran but has been sitting for years in side my shop w/the 440. $200 or make offer.
$400 for both! and all the other gas mopar stuff I have. starters alts ditributers and more
It's a 440 w/carb and manifolds all stock.
it did no roll over easy last time I tryed but it ran when it was pulled. its under the bench in my shop so I cann't take a great pic of it...

I think $300 is pretty good for 440.

i was at a swap meet in houston sunday, a guy had 3 complete 440's out of trucks. a 74, 75 and a 76. $350 each or $1000 took them all. probably less than that, as no one even looked at them. i already had a 69 HP2 440 i had just got for $250 in the back of my truck so i passed. truck 440's don't bring too much money.. $300 sounds about average
i live in CHARGERLAND.. visitors welcome. 166 total, 7 still around

I went back to my local Pull a Part to finish stripping what I wanted from a 73 Charger.  They had a 67 Newport with a 440 in it , complete, for a 121 bucks.  Been sitting there  for a month........somebody finally got this weekend.   I found several in some vans..........but nobody seems to want to tackle pulling those.  Lots of 400's also......seems not much demand for those either....

It might be worth it to take a look. The term "70s 440" is pretty vague.

I don't think the year makes much difference as far as the block, heads, or crank goes.  New forged cranks and even stroker cranks are cheap these days and a lot of people are using new aluminum heads that flow more for not much more than rebuilding old heads.  The gold is in the right year brackets, pulleys, valve covers, and stuff like that.  Have you seen how much people are asking for crank pulleys or '69HP valve covers?
