Here are a couple of overal look ideas:

Again, these are only ideas...not developed and not even suggested by anyone. I will design based on what is determined by those in charge.

BTW: the GAMMA on LCD's is not quite up to par for viewing ALL shades/gradients of black/gray. It cannot discern between shades of MOST colors at the lower 10% and upper 10% to 15%...so all light grays and tones will washout to white and all darker grays and tones will washout to black. There is nothing that can be done about this...the technology is not up to par and the needed gamma ranges aren't available on most LCD's - the exception being LCD Apple Displays, but those things are BANK and most people don't have one. Due to this situation I suggest that we stay away from these tones and shades so that LCD screen users can enjoy the site like everyone else.

The green and black banners both show the details of the cars better. Seems like all the other choices make it difficult to see the cars in the background. Also, it would probably be better if the three cars were represented by the first three generations of Charger.

ChargerBill

bull, I can make the cars show up with just about any color....I just didn't want to spend too much time tweaking each variation until it was narrowed down to a couple of choices. Basically I did the red version first and then swapped out colors without adjusting the images for each color...I should have clarified that. As far as the pics representing each generation...definitely. Again, I just grabbed the pics that I found first (I think they were on my desktop). I will definitely find better pics... I was thinking that it would be cool to have the images swap out or rotate...maybe with Flash or even a java script with a library call. Not sure how Troy feels about that though...may make things messy.

I should also clarify while i'm at it that these are quick and dirty mock-ups. I just cut-n-pasted from a screen grab and due to that some edges are aliased and jaggy. Also, i didn't use the real icons or buttons in some places. I could and would make buttons specific to our site so it would be totally custom and not look like ANY other message board, but again, I don't know the capabilities and limits of the Forum software...Troy and I still need to discuss these issues.

Kinda hard to decide. The blue, red, and orange all look good to me. As long as everything is easy to see and read, it doesn't matter to me!

I think I prefer the red and black. The green would be my number two choice. :yesnod:

Thanks for the explanation, Bill. They all look nice. I guess I prefer the darker colors because they are easier on my eyes for some reason. Red or orange would get on my (optical) nerves. But hey, I'm really not that picky.

I like the orange myself.....the blue/black is a bit too dark for me....

as far as the banner goes, im partial to the red or orange.

The thing is, for the rest of the layout, i like the blue.

Actually I like the Blue or Green, but I wonder if those colors will be tough on the eyes on the long run. I think tame colors/tones as the site stands are easier on the eyes. I leave it to the Administrator- he seems to know best.

I'm easy (shaddap in the cheap seats back there! :icon_smile_blackeye:).

Now that I've seen those examples, I'd be happy with anything. It looks pretty darn cool!

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

ChargerBill

Honestly, the color combo doesn't matter to me at all. I can recreate the same look using light blue - sounds like a lot of members want muted tones...

Great work, Bill.

I really like the first of the two you just posted, but the black and orange one from 2nd page of this thread was the best IMO.

Here are some color ideas and header ideas I've come up with. Keep in mind, we still don't have an official name yet, AND Troy gets to approve all color and design ideas with complete veto power. These are only preliminary ideas to get some feedback...

i dont see a 3rd gen in there   :icon_smile_blackeye: let alone a 1st gen, how classic is it to leave those two out?  I understand this is a "prototype" but do not forget the other generations before and aft please.

Lookin good, Bill, keep 'em coming.   I vote for the blue & black.     The design is cool, though, and I'm sure most any color combo would look good.     Except for that first lighter blue version...kinda, well...   imho.     :icon_smile_tongue:

Relax, Bill has said a time or 2 that these are just rough mock-ups and he'll have each gen represented in the final version.

ChargerBill

New - with 1st, 2nd and 3rd Gen represented. There is limited space, so I can't fit every variation and year... Also, the horizontal lines don't have to be there, I was just seeing how they look and what response they get.
