My charger's been off the road for about 6 months, I just got back to working on it this past week. I rebuilt the tranny, fixed the linkage, and bought a new centerforce dual friction and pressure plate. I was only waiting for a throwout bearing from Mancini. I reassembled the whole thing last thursday night, changed the oil, checked the fluids, took it out for a 3 mile test run, felt great. Friday afternoon, I hit the highway, go up north to lake winnipesaukee for the weekend. 300 mile round trip, the Charger ran great, got tons of  and honks on the highway, and overall got there and back with no issues. The 4spd/3.91s get a little tiring on the highway, but this car was made to be driven, and it felt great to be on the road again.

Cool Nick, nothing is better than going for a long cruise in a Charger!

except long smoky burn outs with a big block charger!!!

I love taking long trips in the Charger.  This year, however, it ate the tranny out in the middle Washington State.  Be sure you have a good towing package with your insurance.  Bob

AAA plus, 100 miles of free towing, free gas, and they automatically send a flatbed for anything older than like '80.  I used them once last year when my 3-4th tranny linkage let go.

How many of you talk to your Charger?  I do.  The kids think it's hilarious.  My wife thinks I'm a moron.

Brightyellow69rtse

haha funny thing is when i took mine out this weekend for the first time since november, i was talking to it. i backed out of the driveway with the e brake on and thought the choke was still closed and i said something like its ok baby im sorry that was my fault and patted the dash board lol. my wife was right next to me but shes come to see this as the norm...........Mike

how much is AAA for a year
It depends on which class/grade of AAA you have. My dad has AAA and when he needed a tow he thought he had 50 free miles. Turns out he has 5 free miles. I guess he cheaped out and got the lowest class/grade. I like to mess with him and call him "El Cheapo" . He gets a kick out of it.

If you have Hagerty don't you get free tows to a repair shop of your choice on a flatbead? I think
you do but am just checking ??? ?

I know my car has let me down once. Radiator started leaking over in OHIO at the Classic show, which made for a long drive back to Indy. But other than that, I haven't had a single problem with any older car I've had.

Wakko

I Talk to all my cars (even my work car) and always do the dash pat. :)  I've had my car towed and broken down more times than I should have though, so I'm going to invest in AAA till the bugs are worked out.   :icon_smile_sad:

I got tired of my car breaking down all the time on the side of the road, that I invested my money in a car trailer.  Sometimes the chargers get moody and don't want to listen to what you have to say.

That's how it works.  The car is incharge of you.

My Charger is also very trustworthy. I took it on a 4000 mile roadtrip this year and not a single problem. I talk to my car too. It's name is Tennessee (were it was 1st sold) and I regard him as one of my best friends. Anyone who doesn't belive a car has a soul is either not a car person or driving the wrong car. Moparjohn

You know what else is funny?  When I first got the Charger I have now, it was nothing but problems from one end to the other.  In spite of that, I never had any fear of driving it anywhere and it did frequently break down.  But every time, I patched her together and pressed on.  Somehow, the car and I always got home.  With each passing year though, as I make the car more and more reliable, I worry more before any long trip.

Ditto!!!  ;D  :yesnod: I'm a woman so cut me some slack here. I used to hate taking out the trash at night .I still do it though.  To many horror movies as a kid. Anyway, since I bought my Charger, I haven't been. I feel safe.  Well, Whillie is a big boy. :yesnod:  Today, I had drove him a long distance. He was not well maintained previously. My hubby thought he might not make it. Well Whiilie and I knew that his 318 neded a good cleaning after some good maintance. He made it. NO problems. So ya, you treat them right, they treat you right. That car IS AMAZING. Freaky really.

If you have no vision or creative spirit, you can always fall back on the way the factory did it.

charger_mike75

My 68 charger has been hands down the most reliable car i've ever owned. even when something did need to be replaced it still got me where i needed to go. The only time i had to leave it on the side of the road was when i picked it up at the body shop after having a new passenger quarter panel put on. The idiots cut through the fuel line and dumped all my gas out. so it ran out of gas on me before i made it to the gas station.
