Well what would you guys do.....

I have an original almost 40 years old 8 4/3 rear with sure grip for my charger. But i have an offer for a (cheap) Dana axle. OK it's a truck Dana but im still playing with the idea of making that fit for a Charger.
You know like the Mopar Muscle guys did a while ago.
Since the dana is empty i will need everything from axles to new diff and bearings...
On the otherhand i can rebuild my 8 3/4 wich should do fine with the 500 HP (street)stroker setup i'll be building.

Now here is the dilemma : if i might break the 8 3/4 because i want to know how fast my car is on the strip with slick tyres it will cost me more to rebuilt it again.
If i go for the Dana it will be overkill but who knows what future plans on engines are? and afterall the Dana build will be 100% top cuz all parts will be new.

O for the record..... Money is a bit an issue because if it weren't i'd built the Dana for sure :D

NOS is nice, turbo's are neat, but when it comes to Mopars, there's no need to cheat...

Well, if I had a 350 hp motor, I'd keep the 8 3/4. If I had a built 440, I'd go for the Dana. The biggest cost with converting a truck dana, besides parts, is farming out the narrowing ,etc... to a shop. Unless you have access or want build a jig, It may cost almost as much to convert the truck dana as buying a new one by Strange. Check out Dr. Diff's site:
