There was just a Dukes movie on CMT that was obviously made somewhat recently.  Most of the original living characters were in it.  I didn't see Boss Hogg.  The end of the movie dedicates it to Denver Pyle.  Anyone know the details of this movie?

That would be Hazzard In Hollywood. It was filmed in 2000. I remember watching it as a kid.

Yes that was a very bad movie compared to the first reunion movie in 1997

Sorrell Booke (Boss Hogg) died of cancer in 1994.  Denver Pyle (Uncle Jesse) also died of cancer in 1997--just a few months after the first reunion movie.

Yeah, they made a first reunion TV-movie in 1997 that took place in Hazzard County.  Denver Pyle (Uncle Jesse) was dying of cancer at the time but he dressed up & did a few scenes.  Sorrel Booke (Boss Hogg) had died in 1994.

The TV movie you saw was the second one they set in Hollywood in 2000.  Denver had died by then.

The cast likes to do "Dukesfest" type stuff for the most part, but they all seem to have agreed that they don't wanna do any more reunion shows.  The lost cast members & decades of aging have taken too much of a bite out of the chemistry at this point.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The General Lees for the reunions were made of one original '68 383 closeup car from the old TV series, two more '69s that they recruited off the Los Angeles want-ads in 1996, and John Schneider's personal GL.  None were R/Ts.

The only one they killed was the car they jumped in the Hollywood special (one of the two '69s built for the reunions).  I saw the wreck of that car up close in WB's transpo building back in 2004.  It was a rusty pile of crap under the paint.  (Spray painted interior, aluminum tape & bondo on top of rust holes in the panels, etc.)

Schneider still has his personal GL if it's not selling for $10 million on Ebay or being used in his own DVD movies he produces.

After the last reunion show, the three cars in WB's hands were all sent down to Louisiana for the 2005 movie.  The jumped '69 wreck was cut up & used as a cab section for the camera trucks, the closeup car was carefully set aside & barely used, and the other '69 reunion car was hacked for a stunt-driver-on-the-roof setup.

The '68 TV-series car has survived all this stuff intact and now it sits on display at WB's studio in Los Angeles.  It's the only GL that's been in the original TV show, the reunions, and the 2005 movie.

what was strange was that right after Denver Pyle got his hollywood square, he passed away. It was only about a month. Denver died on Christmas day of '97. he got his square December 11, 1997.

just alittle useless information for you.

More useless info someone correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't Denver born on Christmas day, I seam to recall hearing that and thinking it was odd to be born and pass away on the same day so many years appart.

Ghoste

Actually he was born May 11, 1920.

I didn't like the 2nd reunion movie, the first one was okay.  As for the original series it was FUN, that's why everyone liked it.

Thanks I thought that was a strange coincidence if it would have been true!

Ghoste

The Christmas thing seems to ring familiar with me too but I wasn't sure so I did a couple of quick bio checks on the net and a few sources all cite May 11 as the day, so...

Fitz73Chrgr

Thanks for all the info guys.  I wasn't sure if Boss Hogg was still alive or not.  I'm no Dukes expert, but I'm learning.
