What gives you the idea that I'd possibly be interested in that Daytona you have too Allen? Oh okay so I haven't seen one of those ever that I wasn't interested in though.

Yeah figured I'd spring it on you now 800 post into the thread that I'd love to have your 500.  Better late than never right? Oh wait I think I've mentioned it at least 20 times already in this thread alone.

Allen.I amsoory to hear about your troubles as well.I went through the same thing on my Talladega. It started out @ 15k and before it was over it was 38k.Where I ran into trouble was the fact that  1) My car was very rusty to start with needing floor pans,1/4s and other stuff 2)The stuff that was replaced on my car had to be taken out of a good donor. It is certainly not as ez as it is to build a Mustang or other car that replacement sheet metal is availible for.It sound as if you are on the right track now.Maybe you will get it done by the 09 Reunion.Jon Wood

Allen,

Glad to hear you've "rescued" your car.  I know that whole situation was wearing on you quite a bit, and it must be a relief to have the car safely tucked away in Ken's shop.  It'll be worth the wait, I know.

Keep us posted, as usual...

Allen,

I've been following your thread and it is definitely hard to watch this happen to you after going through a similar situation myself - however, I know my car's in the right hands now and it'll be done to a much higher standard than I ever imagined... I really sympathize with you and hope that your car also ends up in the right hands now and you complete this great car...

The title to this thread was a foreshadowing more than you ever could have guessed, I'm sure... one of those hard ($$$) lessons to learn...

Good luck with everything and I'm pulling for you!

BZ

Thanks Brandon, I have been following your restoration ordeal too... seems a lot worse than mine.  Sounds like your car is back on track, and I believe mine will be also.

You are right about the prophetic nature of my thread title "...a long saga".   Long was to be expected, but I never expected this painful...

Best of luck on your Hemi Charger... maybe we will park 'em together at a future show... "the body shock survivors".

Thanks Jon, I have been following your Talladega thread as well.  I almost bought a Talladega early this year but bailed out when the bodyshop bills started to spiral into orbit.  I am looking forward to seeing your car at the '09 Reunion, but there is no way my C500 will be finished... maybe by the '10 Monster Mopar... I hope!

Thanks Gene!  Yes, the C500 fiasco has been on my mind a lot... along with other situations, I am so ready for 2008 to be over with... hoping 2009 will get things back on track!

I never thought that I happy to see my Charger 500 taken over 350 miles from my home... BUT I WAS!!!

Things seem to be going well on your Daytona restoration... I need to go copy all the new pictures that you posted last week!

Hey Allen, while your adding my name to a wish list on your cars, go ahead and throw it down on the list of people who would like the Superbird too. Just make sure its lower on the list than my name appears on the other list for the Daytona and the 500.  :nana:

Happy BirthdayBlue Thunder!!!
Based on the Scheduled Production Date of December 4, 1968... My Charger 500 "Blue Thunder" turned 40 years old today!   With her "extreme make-over" now back on track, there is finally something to celebrate again!

Restoration Status:

After being moved to a new restoration shop, an inventory was done on the parts & materials.  The good news is that all of the Charger 500 unique parts appear to be accounted for at this time.  Materials are another story though... there is not even enough base color to properly paint the C500... something happened to it...  :flame:  Out  of two gallons that I paid the original body shop $1336.40 for, there is a little over a gallon left!  More base color will be purchased & it with be mixed with the left-over paint to guarantee a color match.  Work has been restarted on the C500, with good progress being reported.  I should have the first pictures from the new body shop soon... a software issue is holding them up at the moment.
