Hey now, Allen, don't go forgetting how much I liked your Daytona as well. I'd trade ya even up my 500 for your Daytona, then you can have 2 500's to drive once the B5 one is done.

Car looks like its coming along nicely now. Not too much longer and you'll be out banging gears in it.

I sure couldn't dish out the kind of money you guys have. I am hopefully gonna have mine in a shop in the next few months or so. Hopefully my bill will only be around 5K to finish it. If I can get away with a 20K resto in the end I will be stoked!! I am only at like 10K right now. It doesn't hurt to start out with almost a free car too. Lordy, I had to cash in all the stock I had in my account from work, stock I was going to use for partial retirement, just to get my car out... Believe me, the situation Smitty put me in was one of severe bleeding. I was past the point of no return on my particular fiasco. I'm STILL paying for it. I HATE freakin' body men and mechanics that dupe you or don't live up to their end of the bargain. No wonder there's such a negative reputation when it comes to these businesses.....

Sorry to here about your retirement Troy, that really sucks. I didn't mean to sound like I thought you guys had money to dish out like that, sorry if I sounded like it. If it happened to me I would have had to do the same. I lost half of mine last year when the stock morket took a dump. If I knew that was gonna happen I could have drawed half out and had someone finish my car. :brickwall:

It's all cool... I still have time to build up the account until I'm ready to retire. My beef was just someone not living up to his end of a deal and it eventually cost me dearly. The thing that stinks is I could have had the car finished a heck of a lot sooner had I'd taken some where else......

Looks like Allen's on the right road for sure...

I have kept mine going by selling E-Body parts & cashing in "rainy day" US Savings Bonds.  I have not touched my retirement account... or whats left of it after the "Crash of '08".

Being over 50, that's probably not a good plan for me...  :eek2:

Although I did just sign a large note for a reason similar to yours... but I got a 6 Year / 85,000 mile warranty.  :icon_smile_big:

There are a lot of benefits to buying a turn-key Daytona (or any collector car)...

Heck I'd cash out my retirement plan in a heartbeat for a turn key Daytona. I mean lets see I roughly have what, 35 more years before I can retire anyways? So why not right? Oh wait thats right because as of now my retirement fund doesn't have 1/3 of the money to get a daytona. Used to be closer, but man last years returns weren't good at all. Lost about 45% of the total in a span of 6-8 weeks.
