I have an opertunity to pick up a Daytona clone.  It's a little more modified than I would prefer but a very nice looking car,  I told the guy 40k was out of my price range and I would need to sell one or both of my cars to get his, he asked what I had and for pictures.  I sent him some pictures and he is now comming to look at the cars and see if we can make a deal.  Wing Car, Hemi car, Convertible E body.  Is the order of my most wanted cars.  I have my convertible challenger at the body shop now.  I would trade it for a real wing car, but won't even mention it for a clone.  I guess the hard part is the fact that both of the cars up for trade were a mess when I got them, and are now nice drivers.  Just not sure what to do?

No and yes!  It is a pretty good clone from the pics I have seen.  The big thing is there is no window plug.  The guy has been very straight foreward thus far, he has told me it is a 69 318 car. it now has a 440/727 sure grip.  I really want a wing car, I am just not sure how bad.  I am sure I have about 30k in the 2 cars I have and that doesnt count the hours in the garage.  At 5$ a hour, I have over 20k in the two.  I realize you can't really expect to get the hours you put into a car out at sale, but I think that has to be at least considered.

If the car started life as a 500 that would make the decision easy! :shruggy:

I dunno, I think the window plug would be one of the hardest things to change and its hard to call it a clone without that being done.  Anyone can bolt on a wing and nosecone.

Travis it is orange and white, was it on ebay?  if so do you know what it sold for?  The guy never showed up to look at my cars Sunday, so no deal has been struck.

He got it on E-bay and paid $35000, he says he will put it back on ebay if he doesnt trade it,  He also said if he trades for either or both of my cars they will be for sale a day later.  Anyway I offered my 68 and 5k or the 73 and 10k or both and he gives me 8k.

oh man if it's the car i'm thinking of. you better beware.. it was orange. i think the back was white. guy that had it for sale had NO CLUE. i think he was from NC. i could have had it for $27k and i turned it down.. i was ready to send the money to him until we had a 1 hour conversation.. he had that and a superbird clone for sale at the same time. it was posted on aero cars i  am sure i remember that... that poor charger had shoddy quarter work, the frame had been patched up. it was originally from massachusetts if i remember right, and it showed.. if it's that car PLEASE be careful. for $35k you will come away crying. which is probably why it is being flipped so fast in the first place. new owner realized what a shiz box it really is. it looked GREAT in pics.. but when i finally started asking detailed questions, the truth came out

No I doubt he will take what I offered, I offered my 68 plus $5k The 73 plus $10k or both and he pays me $10k.   I think thats fair for what has been described, but he has $35k in the car, I doubt he will take any of those deals,  I will keep looking for a Daytona, Superbird clone.  This would have worked out because I will need to sell one or two of my cars.  The Wanna bee would be my first choice to sell followed by the 68, and the last i would probably not consider is the 70 Challenger convertible.  I bought the E body back in 82.  It was my DD for many years.  My kids grew up in the car, Ironicly it was taken apart at the time my son entered high school and was not driven again until last Friday, so niether of my kids have driven the car.  It just has way to much sentimental value.
