if that car is decently solid and has good frame. i would say it's worth $4000-5000. it may look like crap, but surface rust will do that to a car. as said before that could work to your advantage if you go to buy it.. a PARTS CAR? man no way is that a parts car

There's nothing wrong with restoring an XP car. That one is nowhere close to being a parts car. It would probably sell for between 4-5k, but anything around 3k or the lower figures mentioned here would be an incredible find these days.

headrests became manditory 1/1/69, so all cars after that went up the $30 or so it took chrysler to install 'em...

one headrest cars are just flat out weird--you could order whichever one you wanted.

if you can get the car, primer it, start it, and show that it drives around and is solid, someone will give $6-8k for it.  do that, then apply 20 coats of filler primer and maaco it, then sell for $12-15k.  it's worth WAY more in parts than two grand.

There are some good parts on it, glass, console, seats, dash, steering wheel, beautiful looking grille,  and others.  Its a parts car----especially with the XP vin number  ...

Right. Only the XS Chargers deserve to be restored. ::) :rotz: Too bad I didn't know that before dumping close to $20k into mine so far.

I didn't exactly say that....  :icon_smile_angry:  I was refering to a XP in that condition as not being much more than a parts car.  Sorry to offend.

:slap: :rotz: :pity:   You only see a parts car ?  :shruggy:  I have to be honest, I would be tempted to take the seats, dash, radio and power windows for my car.  But the smarter part of me would restore the car.  I too use to be blinded by R/T vision until I found out the difference's.  I didn't think that 40 year old out dated springs and the fact that the car came with the bigger motor from the factory was worth that much more. I know there is a few more things but just not enough to be worth it. :Twocents:   I fell in love with the car for the lines and looks and not a VIN number. I didn't buy my car for what it came with or didn't come with, I bought my car for what it is. (1968 DODGE CHARGER)  Don't get me wrong, I would love to have a Hemi car or 4spd car or a 6pak car. To me if it's not a 4spd, 6pak, or Hemi car it's just a charger :Twocents:   Chuck............

Now, what I should have said (in the first place) was- -   The car NEEDS A LOT to be properly restored.  Regardless of whatever the VIN happens to be.  :RantExplode:

Definitely agree with ya Chuck. Sure, Id love to have an RT or a 500 or even a Daytona but I'm really happy just owning a 69. I know of alot of people out there who are searching for a 69 Charger but cant find one. I feel fortunate enough to own one. Sure, its only an XP but who cares, its mine. :)

There are some good parts on it, glass, console, seats, dash, steering wheel, beautiful looking grille,  and others.  Its a parts car----especially with the XP vin number  ... there's still some good metal on it for a donor car. Of course it will take some heavy prep work lots of and money to make it nice for paint (probably should start with chemical dipping) . But from the picture I think the rear decklid and doors look good for sure, and probably some decent doors, fenders and quarters.

AS far as WIW??  That smashed to hell '68 Charger on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=001&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=110167953759&rd=1 is already up to $8100 with 7 hours left..... so this one has to be worth at least 1/2 right??? - - so lets say $4,00 grand to start??

Jerk....you are no expert.

You're right. I'm far from being an expert.  I'm just offering my opinion like everyone else on this board. Right or wrong..... Does that make me a "jerk"??   :rotz: :rotz: :rotz:
