Ok, my carburetor needs to be rebuilt again as it is blowing black smoke out the exhaust.  This will be the third time it will have been rebuilt since it was first done last year by Custom Rebuilt Carbs in NJ.  As it was, they did not plate the linkage gold like it should have been and refused to correct it as they "claim" it was originally silver in color.  I am hoping to get my dated carb rebuilt before the upcoming AACA show in Hershey the second weekend in October.

Does anyone have a good reputable source for rebuilding Carter AVS carbs?  Price is somewhat a concern but the majority of the focus is them knowing what they are doing and how well the carb will hold up through the years.

Any help is appreciated.

Why not buy a rebuild kit and a book?  They really arn't that difficult, and you probably can't do anything worse than what you've got now.   Give it a try.

Brian,
Try Bob Kunz (pronounced "koonz") for your carb rebuild. He advertises in Hemmings. He did the one on my '70, and recently the one on my friends Coronet R/T convertible. I think he's either in Colorado or Wisconsin??  :shruggy:
Flawless work. Your carb is completely disassembled, all parts restored & correctly replated, reassembled, & then bench tested before returned to you. You simply bolt it on, set your idle/mixture screws, & your done. My carb was done over 10 years ago, and it still looks like new & the car starts & runs perfectly.
Good Luck!
