We got back from the "Rod Run To The End of the World"...it was awesome  :2thumbs: :yesnod:. It was more than a show it was a weekend of 1000+ cars taking over the Long Beach Peninsula and the towns of Long Beach and Ocean Park. Not only were there more than 1000 cars there...street rods from the 20-50s, there were tons of muscle cars of all makes and models. It was a pain to get to the show cuz there were only two roads there and literally hundreds of cars on the roads at any time. When we came into Long beach on Saturday morning they were lining the street for miles on both sides. We went to the main show for an hour in the morning and two hours in the afternoon and probably saw only about half the show. Everywhere you drove up and down the two North and South roads on the Peninsula there were cars parked along both sides of the road.

I saw a couple of Chargers out driving along the way, but never saw them at the show. I saw "General Jim" with his DOH TV car on a trailer in a campground we passed, but never saw him again after that.

One of the main roads on the peninsula is the north most end of Hiway 101. My new Father in Law owns 100' of frontage on this strip. We sat out in lawn chairs for 3 hours Sat. night watching the cars cruise up and down the highway. People were sitting in lawn chairs and pick-up truck beds, all along the 101 must have been  for 6-7 miles. The cars would cruise up and down. People had dumped water and bleach over the road in front of where they were sitting. Cars would stop and do a burn out where they had dumped the water and bleach. If someone wanted to they could stop and do a burn out every 1/4 of a mile or so...It was so awesome!!! :yesnod:

This was the biggest show and cruise I have ever seen. :drool5:

I'm definitely going back again next year and I'm taking my Charger or Chally Vert.

I'm really sorry I didn't get any pictures...On... BYW... They bring in 70 extra sheriffs(from other counties) and State Patrolmen to try and keep things from getting out of hand...it was amazing...

Right on Mark.  It's been over ten years since we went there.  If you want to go next year I'd be on the phone tomorrow trying to reserve rooms.  That whole area in some places is booked sometimes years in advance.  I was just talking with the sister in law yesterday and she was telling me of some of her friends that went last year that ended up driving to the next town and they wanted $300 for a room.  :o

We camped on my Father-in-laws property...price = free.

I  know the hotels jack up their prices.

I am definitely going to try and so again next year.

Hey Mark

Would love to got to that someday   :2thumbs:  do they sell race gas down there?
Yep, General Jim never misses that show, he brags about it every time he goes.

But I am betting that was not his car on the trailer, he never trailers that car anywhere.
He has no trailer and no way of hauling it anyway. I will have to call him and see if his
car broke down, that would be the only time you might find it on a trailer.

YES WE NEED PICS  :popcrn:  NEXT TIME  ;D

I can find out about the race gas.

Is that what you use in your red car?

It really was a cool time. :o

Dan, I'm about ready to buy you a pump gas crate motor. That high comp 440 is holding you back. :icon_smile_cool:

Yes, I have to run 5/gal of 110 trip fuel with every tank of gas, or bang bang bang 12.5 to 1 comp  :brickwall:
When I first put this engine together in 1979, I could run the car on regular gas   ::)  not anymore  :eek2:
