Heater leak on 72 Charger

I have two leaks on my 72 charger. First off I am in college so the car sits a lot back in my home town. My dad starts it now and then to keep it charged and so on. I think the two leaks are related. The first leak is in the engine compartment. I attached images of it. I need to know what it is called so that I can replace, repair it. It has a crack where the leak is happening. I drew arrows to it so you can see what it looks like. Water also ends up leaking out onto my floor board as the car runs so I think that might be a leaky heater core. Any info will be great. Thanks!

that valve is linked through the cable to the "thermostat" temperature selector on your air controls in your dash. Not sure what its called, but that might be a place to start. Your heater core is probably leaking, its not exceptionally difficult to pull it out and block off the heater hoses, there's no purpose running them except during the winter while driving.

Wow, thanks a lot for the tip. I just ordered the part from your ebay link.   :icon_smile_big:

So it looks like my heater core has gone bad also. How would I go about blocking it off until I get a new one, has anyone posted about how to do that yet? About how much is a new heater core? Or can I just repair it buy getting new gaskets or something?

I am very thankful for all the help guys!

I bought one of those at the nats for 75$ Gentleman tld me that the company that orignally made those was getting rid of all thier old stock and he bought all he could get.somewhere around 300 piecesa long time ago.He said that the original company was making another run of them now.Thats the line I got anyways :shruggy:

after purchasing that part, just keep it all the way on the cold side and that should block coolant flow to the heater core.

Great, that sounds like a good plan. Since my car came with factory AC it looks like getting a new heater core is going to be a pain, or rather costly. Thanks again for all the help guys!
