Chrysler's screwed.  They made money taking risks on the domestic market, but the owners stopped letting them do that when Daimler took over.

Cerberus is just a slash & burn operation.  They'll probably just cut everything that's not gonna be in direct black ink by the third year out, and that will make the money-men happy.

And then when Chrysler's products fall totally behind the market in about 5-8 more years, the same people will be surprised.

So the former CEO of American Motors thinks Chrysler has no justification to exist?   Hmmm, I wonder if he came to that conclusion long after or immediately after Chrysler eliminated American Motors?

To me the worst thing about this limited production Chally is that it's going to be built for U.S market only, no export to europe :rotz:

They said the same thing about the Charger SRT-8 before it came out...better have $50K + if you plan on driving that car. Well, we all know better than that now.  :smilielol:

I think they'll pump these cars out with the 5.7 325hp hemi to compete and steal market share from the mustang, and stick it to the man on a special 426 or 5.7 425 horse edition. They'll have hefty mark-ups when first released but once the camaro comes out...they'll drop way down.

I want one, but if there low production for $50K , I'll just walk!

The first six months production on the Challenger (ie, the 2008 model) was always going to be limited production.  Cerberus is in business to make money.  If they think they can make a lot of money with this car in 2009, they will pump them out like hotcakes.  They are not stupid.

I always did wonder if some of the rumors (like we heard about the Charger) and now the Challenger - are initiated by Ford and the competition, in order to get folks frustrated and just commit to that Mustang alternative....kind of like squeezing the last bit of water from the sponge that is the car  buying public.

Ever since the new "Charger" - I've learned to stop listening to rumors and just wait and see what happens. When it happens, then I'll bitch...like the catfish pig snout design that is the 2006 Charger....oh God the horror! I'm still not through bitching about that.  :brickwall:

I think your on to something. If its all about the money for them, They will stop making so many trucks/SUV's and put more into making cars like the Challenger, or the upcoming Demon & Hornet models. The market is changing [as we all know] But there is always a market for performance cars, even if its a base model with a V-6 or a small V-8.

We can only hope they are thinking the way we are, because the Germans sure as hell missed the mark with a lot of things. :rotz: :icon_smile_dissapprove:

We'll see. The previous owner of Chrysler was apparently stupid because once again the company is on the brink of collapse. I just don't get the executive logic when it comes to the recent muscle car push. The German-led Chrysler execs sat there for years and told us that two-door performance vehicles don't sell well (in response to the backlash over the Charger), meanwhile they were pumping out Vipers, Crossfires, Daytona pickups, SRT10 pickups, Rumble Bee pickups, two-door PT Cruisers, etc.? If they don't sell why bother making any at all? And then why bother making a Challenger? It's certainly be interesting to see if Cerberus follows that lead or does its own thing. I just hope "does its own thing" doesn't mean parting the company out.
