Ok, I spent a few hours trying to find this through the search, and arrived at some conclusions about my wiring harness. (73 318 charger just fyi)

first off. It looks terrible and is prolly a fire hazard. some bare wires, extra length of wire, etc. Apparently NO ONE EVER gets a car with amazing wiring and everyone ends up replacing it one time or another, and since I am upgrading to a 360 block from a 318 I think now is as good a time as any.

second, I need to get the wiring diagrams. I have a couple that people have made, but I really am considering getting the shop manual so I have hard copies of it all.

Third. I dont have enough money especially with the cash I am going to be dumping into the motor to buy a wiring harness, But I do have enough skills and contacts to Make one. A guy I know is really big into deloreans and has a HUGE shop where he rebuilds them, and he has all the wire i would need. The question is, How long do i need to make the wires? Should I wait until I get the engine in the car and then run the wires and cut them to length after the engine is in?

Or does someone have a wiring harness for a 360 that they can measure the lengths?

While I can't give you lengths, if there was anyway that you could get the car to that shop, and take measurements there, then you'd probably be good to go.... All you need is enough wire to run from the bulhead connector, to the location that it's going to, and routed the way you want it routed. You said you'll be on a tight budget, but if you can, look into this site: http://evanswiring.tripod.com/index.html This is where I got mine from, and despite all the troubles that I've been having, most of it has been because of previous owners messing with stuff they should not have. It's been fun so far though. :2thumbs:

ha, its always fun. I guess when I run the wires, I'm gonna record the lengths of the wires that I am running and Ill post them up here. Prolly gonna be a while. but ill make sure to do it so if anyone else wants to make one themselves, they have the info they need.
