Hey guys,
I am looking at buying 1968 R/T, 440HP, 4-speed.  Got a copy of the fender tag but don't have a code book.  Is there anyone out there that could decode the tag?  The paint is AA1 - metallic silver, black interior, black vinyl top.

Thanks,
Carl

Hope this picture thing works.

You're welcome, btw we seem to defer on the R-6 option of the Trim.

I believe R-6 was only vinyl bucket seats on the "premium" cars, so the regular Chargers.

Arthur, bench seats were not available in Chargers until 1970. All 1968-1969's had buckets although some appeared to have benches due to a buddy seat which, this '68 doesn't have.

OldGuy

It has bucket seats with a 4-speed console rather than the buddy seat.

Hmmm odd, another flaw in Galen's famous white books. But more of a 70's guy myself, so didn't know that.

Arthur,
You mentioned that the car isn't that well optioned - it really does have quite a bit for a 1968.  1970 models had a lot more to choose from that 1968.  About the only other thing that this car could have had that it doesn't is a 426 Hemi, stereo tape player, and a rear window defogger just to name most of what is left that could have gone into it.  In fact, the AA1 special buffed Silver Metallic paint was $21.95 option according to the Red Book.

. . . seems like pretty good options to me, wouldn't mind if my car had some of those,

Why would you want anything else?  Just give me a Charger and I'll be happy.

:iagree: , it is a fairly well optioned car.

Arthu®

Yeah like I said not too knowledgeable on the 68's, all I know is the 70's got a ton of more options, that is why I thought this car had pretty few options. Guess the 68's came with more standard.
