Does anyone have a close up picture of a properly installed trunk weatherstrip on a 69. Mine never seems to stay in place so I starting to reglue it. The more I looked at it the more it looks to be installed backwards. Any pictures will help. thanks

I was told that the seam should not be centered above trunk lock mechanism. Is this fact?

Yep.

Per,

I suspect it may have something to do with the remote possibility of water damage or simply visual aesthetics. I'll be watching this thread because I'm curious too.

Maybe it should be glued together like you don't have a split at all?

My guess is that they had weatherstrip coming to the line in bulk rolls and it was cut on a crude measuring surface that was simply marked for a variety of vehicles.  Remember, it wasn't just Chargers coming down the lines.
