Just struck a deal to buy another Mopar

70 Plymouth Suburban.  383-2v.  Will become my new daily driver, and the long restoration on the Barracuda will finally begin.

This will be the third Mopar I've bought in 3 years.  First was a Dart with a slant six.  Then was the Barracuda with a smallblock.  Now it's a big block wagon.  I keep increasing in engine size.  I guess next is a HEMI car.... maybe not, but I can dream, can't I?

That's cool. Give it a wax job and a new grille and you'll be stylin' big time. Something like that would look pretty bad with some 17' rims and lowered (I've never said that before). How's the interior?

Brock Samson

i like that tweeked grill looks like it's leering..  :-\

Dash is all cracked to hell, and the seats are torn, but nothing too bad.

Right on, wagons are cool.  Especially a big block.  Is it a 6 or 9 passenger?  You have yourself an instant covered pick up with the rear seat(s) down.  I always wanted to drive my Banshee up on the roof and use it for a tow rig.  I remember the 2 barrel 383 being good on fuel.  Depending on gear you may get better or at least the same mpg as your Barracuda?

I agree with Curtis, throw ya' some 17's on and you B stylin'.  :coolgleamA:

I scored a 71 satellite wagon ( 9 person ) for free a while back - been sitting outside my shop for a while...    had been vandalized but oh well...    i got it for the 8 3/4   :D

New pics.

Started it up this afternoon.  Idles fine, shifts just fine, but there's a small problem with the distributor, most likely from sitting for so long.  Nothing major.  Gotta wait on my investment fund to get the rest of the money, but I should have the title in my name by the end of the week.

Something about a "rescue unit".  I'll take a better pic once I have it home.

That looks pretty cool, congrats!
Is there any evidence of antenna mount holes from it's old job?

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

It would be even cooler if that were the case. Get a light bar with some red lights and some Fire Chief door decals... :2thumbs: Sweet!

How hard is it to restore/replace that dash I wonder?

Probably not much different than changing a B body.

Title says it was an abulance for the fire department in Okano, NE.  I inted to restore it back into an ambulance once the Barracuda is finished.

Ugh...  I don't think I realized until today just how much of a pain in the ass it is to change the spark plugs on a big block.  I spent 2 hours, and only managed to get the 4 drivers side plugs.  I think tommorow when I hit it again, I'm gonna jack the front up, and go at it from underneath.

Good news, and pain-in-the-ass news.

Good news first.

The last document I needed to get her titled FINALLY came, so she is officially mine in the eyes of the government now, and is legal to drive on the road.

Pain-in-the-ass news:

The vacuum advance wasn't working right, so I bought a new distributor.  $60 bucks.  Today, I finally had both the time and nice weather, so I tried to swap it in.  However, the new one won't work.  Why, you ask?  Because the old distributor had the standard points, BUT, also had an electronic vacuum advance, which the new, $60 dollar distributor did not have.  So, I'm just gonna spend $200, and get the electronic ignition conversion kit.

Also, when I returned the new distributor, they only refunded me $10, so basically I flushed 50 bucks down the shitter.

Should have pulled the old distributor before I bought a new one.  It was an expensive lesson.

where did you buy the distributor from?

O'Reilys.

I bought it a week or so ago, but today was the first opportunity I had to try to install it.  I'm thinking that since it's been a few days, they didn't refund the whole price.
