sweet! Theres not even one junkyard on the island here. Well there is....but they are all imports or newer cars. There is one junkyard in town here, they have a few old cars. Some 50s stuff and a late 70's Firebird. Havent checked out the whole place yet.

There was a junkyard that delt with pure classics about 2 hours up island. I phoned, they had 2 69 Chargers but they closed

I'm going to get a shop to do body and paint but everything else will be done by me and sometimes my grandpa.

Cody, please DO NOT cut corners on a project such as this.  After seeing these (and your other pictures showing rust in structural areas of the unibody) .... all I can say is consider the cost ....and spend your money wisely.  Any cheap repairs will be only be wasted money, and a bad investment.

Well, that door jamb is rusty because when we found the car, it had no left door so that area was unprotected. So Tufcat, what do you think I should do? Keep in mind...Im on a 10k budget for everything

I love your spirit,  I really do.  Please don't get the idea that I don't think 10K is a lot of money - I do.  I also understand your situation. Unfortunately, when you get involved in this type of project, things snowball, and the next thing you know... remember your 10K? ....well, let's just say 10K doesn't buy what it used to.

Here's what I would do if I were you at your age and budget. Do things to limit the cars condition from getting any worse, put it back together, paint it and have some fun. Someday you'll be able to do a full blown restoration and be able to remember the glory days when you were young tooling around in the car!

Well I'm not doing a full blown resto. My main plan is to get rid of all the rust and make the car structually sound. Then a paint job and I'll put it all together and drive the balls outta it. I'm keeping the original beat up seats

I realize you probably have some sentimental value with the car, but what if you sold the car, got the money for it and used that plus your 10 K budget money to buy a nice driver that was already drivable with a nice body?  Just a thought, but since your dad bought the car for you when you were young I'll bet you want to keep it.

Yea, it has a lot of sentimental value. I couldn't sell it.

Hey Cody good luck with your car.   I'm with you get to cancer out and get it running and enjoy  it till you can get like you really want it. Your lucky to get a mopar at your age I have always wanted one and have finally got me a 73 charger and I am twice your age. I wish I had one when I was your age.
