I think he is just asking if anyone sees anything wrong with the car.  I don't think he's looking for a value.

Looks like fudge in both quarters near lower corners of the doors (passenger side is worse), 340 not original (318 car), very clean and presentable though. Looking to potentially buy it?

yea, between that car and the other one on Ebay that's a 74 SE car with the 360 in it that is blue.

TeeWJay426

This one?

That's a sharp car, although not an SE.  That one would be my personal preference, but you're the buyer. Good luck with either one you choose!

you like that one over the 73 gold one above?

TeeWJay426

I personally do, but that's mainly for two reasons- 1) the color and 2) the matching numbers drivetrain. How do the prices stack up between the two?

It has the 318 in it with a 340 air cleaner.  That car was on eBay a while back.

gold car- $19k
blue car- $18k

TeeWJay426

I think based on that and Fitz73's observation that the gold one is a 318 with a 340 air cleaner on it, the blue one is probably the better value as well, IMO. You may be able to get either one for less than that, however, depending on how bad they want/need to sell.

well, whatever I get will be getting the motor yanked for a twin turbo setup, so the engine it comes with will go in the corner of the garage. It will also be my daily driver.

I'd go for the blue car.  IMO it looks better, and its not an SE, as I prefer hardtops.

how hard would it be to change out that dash to a rallye style cluster? I hate that speedo setup.

I think the entire dash has to come out, and the harness has to be changed.  I know Matt (charger1973) has done it.

both nice looking cars but I would lean towards the #s matching.  Prices on the 3rd gens are starting to climb.

No, just cluster itself and underdash harness. Matt removed for comfortably, beside he removed twice to replace dash pad and change the color on second time.

how much $$$ was it? How hard was it? How long did it take?

Nacho-RT74

he had parts cars.

Rallye clusert... with clock are around $200. sometimes you find with harness maybe on $250 rate. Just harness, maybe $100 ( used ). So think you'll get that change in NO LESS than $300 with clock. Without clock they go cheaper. With tach... IF you find, maybe JUST the cluster will go on $300 $350 rate.

For blue upgrade, harness NEEDS TO BE 74

Also depends if you get 150 or 120 speedo, cut or not radio area.

How long does take the change ? if yoy do removing complete dash frame what IMHO would it be the best... 2 or 3 hours

My report about Gold one:

-Bad patch on front quarter area what makes disalignment on door AND probably fender... then probably hood looks also wrongly aligned because that.
maybe wasn't patched and is a factory fail :shruggy:

-missed rear extension quarter moldings

-Missed radiator return bottle

-Missed fan shroud

-damaged hood hinges... but is not that weird after 34 years

-Door panels begin to be chalky

-Sail panel vinyl just need to be reglued.

-Dash pad bubbling ???

And on a similar Engine displacement specs and similar conditions car... never would put an SE over a Hardtop. Hardtop is a good candidate for a great rallye clone if you don't care about cloning.

Beside that, Blue one has A/C, tuff wheel. Am/Fm Probably Stereo radio. ( Gold one is mono for sure with rr speaker ). Nice cooling and Alt upgrade, beside engine upgrades stated by seller. Engine bay is mostly complete.

Gold one... I like more the gold interior, but that's only a personal issue. Also likes a lot the pedal dress package, but easy to add. Bezels are available.

I like better 74 because seatbelts comfortably. I like safety, sorry and I feel naked or incomplete without my seatbelt

Anyway, I think both are SLIGHTLY overpriced.
