I like everything but I'm all Mopar when it comes to ownership.  If I had Otis Chandler or Jay Leno money, I would buy a little more diversely.  It's probably regional but I have to say that where I live, the Chevy guys definitely have a smugness where other brands are concerned.

HAZZARDJOHN

I don't know I'd say its a toss up between Die hard mopar fans and Chevy fans for smugness. Ford guys are probably the most content of the big three. This is coming from a guy that does 50+ car shows and cruise-ins a year.

My mechanic told me, "I couldn't fix your brakes, but don't worry I made your horn louder."

I respect all muscle cars. But I'm a Mopar girl all the way.  :2thumbs:

:iagree: Except the 'girl' part.

I think for the most part it's a friendly rivalry, much like the rivalry between friends who like two different NFL teams. How much brand hatred a person has mainly has to do with their experiences with people rather than cars. I knew a guy that took this stuff way too seriously. He thought Fords were 10X better than anything out there and he would spend as much time as you let him putting your favorite brand down. That experience made me want to avoid Fords just to spite the SOB. Because I've never had a bad experience with a Chevy owner (other than occasional harmless ribbing) I don't feel the same way about Chevy. Even then I've owned one Ford and no Chevy so the feelings don't always translate to reality. But the '79 Bronco I owned for a short time had a lot of engine trouble so I wasn't all that impressed. That said the main reason for my liking the Charger is the looks. If the 2nd gen Charger were made by Ford I would still own one and probably be a dyed in the wool Ford guy.

In reality all classic American cars are pretty much the same. Most cars made by the big three use (or used to use) common brand components found on all of them such as Dana, Carter, Spicer, Bendix, etc. so how much of the cars are all Ford or all Mopar is debatable. Of all the cars and trucks I've owned only two of them were not Dodge/Chrysler or IH. I've owned a Honda Accord a Ford Bronco, two Scouts and an IH pickup.

I've owned Mopars, Fords, AMC's.....Never owned a GM product of any kind but I would own hundreds of cars from all of those manufacturers if I had the money. A few favorites:

Chevy... 67-68 Camaro with hideaway headlights, 66-69 Chevelle

Pontiac... 67-68 Firebirds and 65-67 GTO's, 70-79 Trans Am's

Buick... 68-70 Skylarks and Gran Sports

Olds... 68-72 Cutlass

Ford... 63-67 Galaxies and Fairlanes, 67-70 fastback Mustangs, 68-71 Torino's
Mercury 65 Comet

AMC's...68-74 Javelin's or AMX's 70-74 V8 Hornet and all Jeep products!

Mopar....To many to list!

The bugle sounds the charge begins. But on this battlefield no one wins.

Hows the javelin as a driver?  Is it fun to drive?
