Ok

So I went to a Ford show on Saturday.  A Mopar show on Sunday and last week I went to a chevy show.

I noticed that Chevy guys really hate fords, but like mopars.  Mopar guys hate chevy's, but like fords.  My point is the only people that like chevy's are chevy guys.

Am I just paranoid :shruggy:

71ChallengeHer

I met 2 guys at a show . 1 has a Camaro and the other a Nova. They owned Mopars when they were younger and loved them. They said they got into Chevy cause they couldn't afford Mopar. :shruggy:

Actually, I was a Chevy guy who ended up with a Mopar, now I'm a Mopar guy with wood for '70 Chevelles and 1st/2nd gen Monte Carlos  :2thumbs:

Into some Fords too, mostly Galaxies...

OK, I'm just a car guy...

several guys i met this weekend were into totally mopars after they went thru several chevies... they sounded like they were sorry they were ever into the bowties too...  very apologetic :smilielol: but one chevy guy sold his three mopes to concentrate on his two '65 chevy II novas...

but if ya look at it this way there's 20 GMs (fifteen of which will be chevies) for every 10 FORDS (three of which will be Mecurys) to every three or four Mopars...

but  that's just my guesstimation...

Yeah, I took the charger out around the block working out the bugs and ran into a chevy guy who told me he really wanted a mopar, but couldn't afford one.  I know his feeling.  I have a really good paying job, but still can barely afford it, too.  Now, the rivalry between Ford and Chevy is like the rivalry between the new charger vs. the old chargers.

:iagree:  I always get that appologetic feel from the chevy guys, unless you go to a super chevy show.  Those guys think they don't stink

71ChallengeHer

You should see the article in the paper about the Cruise In they have here the 4th Friday of every month. " Tons of Chevy's and Mustangs showed up"  Nothing about all the Mopars. :slap: I should write the paper.

I think you should write the paper   Maybe the chevy and ford guys think mopar guys and girls are snobs

The local guys at the shows always talk to me. If they can't remember my name they just call me Miss Mopar.    Oh, here are 2 pics from a cruise on Sat. Not many cars at all . It was hot as heck and humid. :eek2:

Same for me. I actually grew up with Chevys and Fords. I got hooked on Mopars after trading my '74 Nova that I lost my drivers licence with for a '78 Aspen R/T. Been hooked ever since. But I still love Chevys a lot. I only ever liked select Fords though. Mainly Mustangs and '72 & '73 Torinos.

I am a Car guy, I actually have more GM's than any thing else right now, but I have had a stable of fords. I don't make enough money to get into mopars though as you all know they is expensive!  :o  Someday I'll make enough to add mopars to my stable, but that is down the road. I guess the benefit of being a car guy and not a brand loyalist, is I get along with everyone at a carshow (Except imports). I don't have to go around and have a pissing contest with the guy who parks his Maraudernext to my Impala. I just shake his hand and say "that's a beautiful car"

I've been a Mopar guy ever since my very first car when I was 16.  I bought a 1973 Duster with a 6 in it for $300 in 1984.  Prior to that I was seriously thinking about buying this 69 Camaro with a 350 in it, but was ultimately talked out of it because someone told me it had rod knock.  Since the Duster I've owned 3 1968 Chargers and a 71 Barracuda.  My loyalty comes from that original 73 Duster.  I shudder to think what would have happened had I bought that Camaro.  I know have a true appreciation for all nicely restored muscle cars.

Hubby calls me a car slut because I like all kinds of cars.  I like Mopars most, but I do like to see Mustangs and  Chevelles.  To me a muscle car is a muscle car.....they are all cool. (BUT I DID SAY I LIKE MOPARS BEST)!

I have 2 fords, and one mopar. I've grown up with GM products but when I was old enough to buy a car, its wasn't a Camaro. It was a mustang Mach 1. Then I had to have a Charger after I saw bullit and I grew up with DOH toys. If I found a nice Generic Motors product like a Olds 442 or a Pontiac GTO then I would get one of those too. I just find most Chevy guys are closed minded and think their cars are the best at everything. (New mustang owners are similar) They think a 350 is the end all of engines even when I built a junk yard 302 that ran a faster quarter than a couple "built" 350 powered Camaros. They sounded louder so everyone thought they were faster. I ran a full second faster than them!

like the saying goes "Jack of all trades, master of none"

In australia, Chrysler has always been the least popular of the detroit manufacturers. This wasn't a terrible situation as during the 80's and 90's chryslers were always the cheapest cars going (of full sized cars) which is why my family owned so many. Need a cheap car, buy a mopar!

what's really ironic is that toyota outsells them all now. :icon_smile_angry:

Ghoste

I like everything but I'm all Mopar when it comes to ownership.  If I had Otis Chandler or Jay Leno money, I would buy a little more diversely.  It's probably regional but I have to say that where I live, the Chevy guys definitely have a smugness where other brands are concerned.

HAZZARDJOHN

I don't know I'd say its a toss up between Die hard mopar fans and Chevy fans for smugness. Ford guys are probably the most content of the big three. This is coming from a guy that does 50+ car shows and cruise-ins a year.

:iagree: Except the 'girl' part.

I think for the most part it's a friendly rivalry, much like the rivalry between friends who like two different NFL teams. How much brand hatred a person has mainly has to do with their experiences with people rather than cars. I knew a guy that took this stuff way too seriously. He thought Fords were 10X better than anything out there and he would spend as much time as you let him putting your favorite brand down. That experience made me want to avoid Fords just to spite the SOB. Because I've never had a bad experience with a Chevy owner (other than occasional harmless ribbing) I don't feel the same way about Chevy. Even then I've owned one Ford and no Chevy so the feelings don't always translate to reality. But the '79 Bronco I owned for a short time had a lot of engine trouble so I wasn't all that impressed. That said the main reason for my liking the Charger is the looks. If the 2nd gen Charger were made by Ford I would still own one and probably be a dyed in the wool Ford guy.

In reality all classic American cars are pretty much the same. Most cars made by the big three use (or used to use) common brand components found on all of them such as Dana, Carter, Spicer, Bendix, etc. so how much of the cars are all Ford or all Mopar is debatable. Of all the cars and trucks I've owned only two of them were not Dodge/Chrysler or IH. I've owned a Honda Accord a Ford Bronco, two Scouts and an IH pickup.

69DodgeCharger

I've owned Mopars, Fords, AMC's.....Never owned a GM product of any kind but I would own hundreds of cars from all of those manufacturers if I had the money. A few favorites:

Chevy... 67-68 Camaro with hideaway headlights, 66-69 Chevelle

Pontiac... 67-68 Firebirds and 65-67 GTO's, 70-79 Trans Am's

Buick... 68-70 Skylarks and Gran Sports

Olds... 68-72 Cutlass

Ford... 63-67 Galaxies and Fairlanes, 67-70 fastback Mustangs, 68-71 Torino's
Mercury 65 Comet

AMC's...68-74 Javelin's or AMX's 70-74 V8 Hornet and all Jeep products!

Mopar....To many to list!
