Heatgun and a scraper, and for the hard stuff paint stripper, FUN!

Fitz73Chrgr

I used a propane torch and a 1 1/2" inch scraper.  For the stuff that was hard to get with the torch, I used carb cleaner.  Have fun, its going to take a while!

The best chemical I have used was Tal Strip. It comes in spray cans as well as gallons. You apply it and let it soak in, reapply maybe two more times and it comes off with a putty knife.

I used a propane torch and a 1 1/2" inch scraper and a wire brush in the cracks and crannies. I never used any chemical and got pretty much all of it. Mine was then blasted. I did mine on a rotisserie. If i would do it now I would put it out in the sun and as hot as it has been it would have come off like cheese.

I've heard Easy off oven cleaner works. Never tried it myself.

Still looking for 15x7 Appliance slotted mags.....

pinsol and a putty knife...and then pinsol and a scotch bright pad when you have most of it already off and need to clean it up...
...yes it works, what i have been using on my trans am past couple days.

I am using a 4 1/2" grinder with wire brush

It is going good and removing the rust at the same time
Some spot are hard to get too, so I also use a putty knife.

Have Fun  :2thumbs:

I tried using a sharp wood chisel.  I have several old one I got from garage sales.
They seem to work.  I removed most of the undercover from the wheel well in about a half hour.
I already had the fender off the car.
What I could not get off with the wood chisel I used the grinder with the wire brush.

Good Luck

what would be the best kind of coating to use on my floor and underneath once i get them sandblasted

The70RT

I am just gonna paint mine. It won't be original that way but I like the painted look. Unless your driving it in the winter or if you go for show points I would just paint it. :Twocents:...............plus all you have to do is get a six pack and lay under it and wipe it down once in a while......thinking about maybe under coating my inner fenders though.

Freezing it can make things go a lot faster. I saw a website once where a guy used dry ice to freeze it and then he smacked it with a hammer and it broke up into chunks. However I don't think that would work unless you had the car on a rotisserie and could flip it upside-down, but then if you're going to be restoring the undercarriage you'll probably have to do that anyway.
