Unfortunate happening...

It's been a few days since I've been able to use the internet but I've been wanting to tell you guys about it immediately...

A week and a half ago I had to take my dad's truck back home because it was giving me trouble.  I didn't like he idea that I had to be worried the entire time that I was driving it that it would break down in the middle of the intersection.  I decided I would just drop the truck off and bring my Charger up to school until the truck go fixed.  A week went by with no problems, and then a few days ago I noticed that one of my front wheels was squeeling while driving down the road.  Then it seemed like every little bump in the road made the squeeling worse.  I began to get a little worried so I decided I would stop by my "friendly" Dodge dealership since it was close by.  Maybe they could help me in some way right?  When I pulled into the service department and went inside, I approached the first person I saw, which happened to be the guy in charge of the service department apparently (you know, the one in khakis and a polo shirt that never actually touches a car when it comes in for service).  When I approached him he asked me, "Can I help you?" and I replied with a grin, "I think my wheels are about to fall off."  The man then asked me what I was driving and when I told him, "The blue car outside," he looked out the window, saw what car it was, and without even getting up said, "We don't work on cars older than 10 years old," and went about his business.  I just looked at him and said, "I'm not asking you to work on it, I'm asking you to tell me whats wrong with it."  When everybody realized that I was pretty mad with the guy, about six of them jump out and hurried outside to look at the car.

I just felt like ranting a little bit to you guys about it.  It just really aggrevated me because that was the only time I've ever gone to the dealership for help and they pretty much just kicked me when I was down.

After finding a shop nearby and driving my car there I found out that my lower control arm bushings on each side were pretty much gone.  I've got the car back and it's fine now.

Does anybody know how I can get ahold of the Chrysler Corp. to file some kind of formal complaint about their horrible service?  Maybe an address or something?

I agree that the guy could have been a little more nice about brushing you off, than just verbally tossing you out. However, it's true that most dealers won't work on anything very old...not unless there's some special reason. The usually refer people to smaller shops.

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

Ya, I figured they wouldn't work on it, but I think they could have at least LOOKED at it

I would get the guys name, write to the new chrysler and tell them, your not sure but this incident may have you buy a Mustang or wait for the Camarro, even though you have alway been a Chrysler fan.  I'm sure at the verry least you will get an apoligy and the service manager will get an ass chewing.

Go to the dealership and ask to see the general manager or owner, tell them what happened, He will probably get chewed for letting money get out the door! They could have made some cash just checking the car out.

I use to have an 800 number for Dodge. I'll try to find it. That's messed up because I do a lot of business at my Dodge Dealership and they love to work on classic Mopars.

yeah, when i was truck shopping awhile back i went to the local dodge dealer and they had a 71 Dart Swinger up on the lift, said they were rebuilding the front suspension for a kid after he put a 360 in it....it was CHERRY!!!
Daddy ran whiskey in a big black dodge
bought it at an auction at the masons lodge,
Johnson County Sherriff painted on the side,
just shot a coat of primer then he looked inside,
well him and my uncle tore that engine down,
I still remember that rumblin' sound.....

Last week when I went down to have my daily driver worked on, they had a 68 Roadrunner , 70 Duster and a Lil Red Express . :shruggy:

I would write that letter damn quick, because in a few months, nobody that you saw that day will still be working there.  dealership turnover is staggering.  starting from the top down. those service manager make the rounds more than a doctor during a flu epidemic.  they go from dealer to dealer, repeating often.

Well, least you didn't lose a wheel. But the service sounds like what you get at the local Walmart here :rotz: :icon_smile_dissapprove:

Well I'm glad some of you guys understand my anger.  I am in the process of writing a complaint to the company (I'll post it on here so you guys can read it...).  I just need to get a name or two from the dealership before I do.  Does anybody have a mailing address, e-mail address, or number that can help me out?  Thanks

Chad

A foreigner will work on your car and will charge you less. That is exactly what I'm talking about in the other thread when someone posted about chinese quality.

You should contact the owner of the Dealership. Chrysler really has nothing to do with operations. They don't run the dealership, they just sell them cars and parts.

I can understand the point of not working on older cars, but at the same time I can't imagine these Technicians not being able to work on older cars. I would hope I could take my Charger to Topeka Dodge dealer and they could atleast tell me what's wrong for a fee. I wouldn't ask for them to order parts. I know a couple of them have old Mopars. It has gotten to the point if they can't plug a computer into it, they won't touch it. Just like any trade, once the old guys die off so will the knowledge.

i've never heard anything like that down here. most dealers are also 'general mechanics' (ie work on anything they can get parts for).  :rotz:
