Can't get my trans pan to stop leaking

I just installed a rebuilt 727. I filled it up and it started leaking out from around the trans pan gasket. The pan was hammered so I replaced it with a Derale stamped steel one and a new gasket. I torqued the nuts to the proper setting, filled it up and it started leaking again! It is coming out from around the pan gasket. Should I use silicon on this gasket? A friend mentioned Mopar makes a plastic type gasket with a rubber ring all the way around it that is supposed to fix this problem. Couldn't find one online though. Any suggestions?

Go to any Chrysler, Dodge or Jeep dealer, they should have them right in stock....part # 2464324AC

I was told never to use gasket sealant on transmission pan, because if any of the sealant gets in the valve body you can say bye to your transamission.  I had the same problem when I bought a WIX filter for my 70.  I took it off and bought a rubber gasket from autozone and I have no leaks.  I'm gonna take a guess and say your leak is coming from the passenger side?

Make SURE its the trans pan.....most trans leaks start higher up & seem like the pan.....

Shift selector seal, dipstick tube seal & the neutral safety switch are common areas

yeah, make sure its the pan, I had what I thought was a trans pan gasket leak on my trans changed pans, gaskets still leaked :shruggy: I put my car on  jack stands cleaned pan off kept checking it every 1/2 hour or so ended up being neutral safety switch leaking on to edge of pan and then dripping off the front of pan and making me think it was pan gasket, this leak drove me crazy and all it was was a 10.00 dollar or so switch :brickwall:

What i find that works is i dont torque them up to specs.I do them up by feel make sure you dont over tighten them and squash or distort the gasket after a couple of drives re check by hand again. I have never had a leaking problem doing it this way plus it works well for rocka covers too.
