Bumper repair

I have always wondered how bumpers, that are dented, are repaired. Do they just beat on it tell it looks good or do they have deminsions for all the bumpers? Just wondering after looking at mine and how it is not straight but does have curves to it.

I know the guy at Ogden Chrome and Plating and they do mostly bumpers and they have most of the original templates for the bumpers to reform them to. When we sent our 68 charger bumpers to be rechromed he straighten them out and everything fit perfectly putting it back together.
