What do people expect to get when you hear of a classic car for sale for $500 obo?  :shruggy:

The reason I'm asking is that I just caught wind of a '70 Plymouth Duster for sale that I'm sending a cousin over to look at since it's in his neck of the woods. It's a 318, auto, 2 door, and supposedly the body is in good shape but the area it's at has heavy snow and salted roads. I will certainly be posting more word on it once my cousin gets some time off work to look at it.

Cheap A body? I'll bid $501 ;)

seriously. I would expect the frame to need a little work, maybe some new metal on the body. but hell, if it runs it's worth every penny  :2thumbs:

Anymore when I hear a price like that, I expect it to be a scam or urban legend.

I've got the ad sitting here in my hand, it was just posted in today's classifieds to it's not an urban legend....  :shruggy:

I won't be wronged, I wont be Insulted and I wont be laid a hand on. I don't do these things to others, and I require the same from them.

i bought my 71 dart 4 years ago out of an old mans back yard for 100 bucks.....
Daddy ran whiskey in a big black dodge
bought it at an auction at the masons lodge,
Johnson County Sherriff painted on the side,
just shot a coat of primer then he looked inside,
well him and my uncle tore that engine down,
I still remember that rumblin' sound.....

My dad just paid 400 for a very solid running 63 belvedere and the interior is perfect.  Needs paint and thats it no other bodywork.

A body mopars that are just your average daily drivers don't sell for much. $500.00 is really not that far off. It most likely needs work but again, it can be cloned and a V8 swap can be done very easily. I've bought many A body's for less than a grand. '73 Scamp #2 cond. 318 for $425.00 '70 Dart #2 cond. 6 shooter rust free $800.00 '71 Demon #3 cond. 340 4 speed $1200. These are a just a few examples. Dusters only came in 2 door versions also. Unlike the new charger, if you wanna call it that!

Hey, you can hate the game but don't hate the player.

hubby got me a 71 charger in rough, but driveable condition for $500.  It needs a little body work, paint, and some interior stuff.

Don't forget though that in Canada, a 1970 Dodge Charger R/T runs to about $60,000 where the same car would only cost about $40,000 down in the states. Things are getting pretty pricey up here to the point that parts cars are now $1000-$1500 CDN.

Check into it projects can still be had cheep.  People say all the time there are no good deals left, my answer is... they aren't looking. I don't think of a scam or myth when I see affordable cars, infact A guy locally bought a 70 Charger Rt, #'s match, 440, original paint, from the original owner, the guy give 13,000 for it, and as far as projects I just passed up a 318 69 charger for 3000 , heck I give 2500 for a Solid RT body (not #'s matching, but did have a running 440 in it) and some friends with non mopar stuff, 37 Ford pick up complete with original flathead v8 (project) 400 bucks, he also bought a 39 parts truck for 50 bucks, Another friend just bought a super solid 72 chevelle for 1200, then found a nice 350 four dour chevelle with tons of parts for another 800. Another buddy into trucks bought an all original 72 Chevy Chyenne LWB complete running, and 72 C-10 Shortwheel base body No eng/trans, but the bed was filled up with extra parts... he give 1500 for the pair.

I'm not saying they'll just fall in your lap or you'll see one tomorrow, but ask around, be patient, and you'll find what you want, for what your willing to give.

Good Luck,
Jason

they would be some if it wasn't a 10 hour drive round trip, thus I sent the cousin who STILL hasn't emailed me back and he's not answering his cell....  :brickwall:
