why not HiPo Pistons SPECIFICALLY to 400 ?

I have been looking for years just KB240 pistons available if you want HP upgrade on 400s... why is that if you already have DISPLACEMENT, and rest of parts are the same than other Engines.

I think go with oversized HiPo 383 pistons also would work to 400, ( or machining overbored 440 pistons ) but why NOT SPECIFICALLY BUILT to 400 ?

Please, serious opinions, not ANCHOR BOAT engine excuse LOL.

Ooops, noticed not even 060 383 pistons would fit right on standart bore 400... is there 081 or 091 383 pistons to get 010 or 020 400 pistons ? LOL

The compression height on the KB-240 is 1.908" and there are lots of 440 pistons available with more compression height than that. The standard bore 400 is already .020" larger than a 440 so a .040" oversized 440 piston would fit in a .020" over 400. The only issue might be the piston skirt length but that can be easily remedied.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

Diamond pistons will make any piston you could want right off the shelf. Not all that expensive at 700.00 for a set.

yeah but simply is not a plug and play job. THERE ARE NOT IN stock. Simply don't exist. That's why I said SPECIFICALLY. BTW what would it be the compresion rate you have for those 240s ?

nuff said.

Thats what I already stated: NOT POST that reason. Is symply not valid being just the low compression because the pistons the only reason to call it on that way. Rest is the same than a 383 and you don't call them BOAT ANCHOR.

yeah but you can get HiPo pistons in stock on half of that to another engines.

I mean, I think there is A BIG MARKET for those, specially because THERE IS A LOT OF THOSE, and I think half of 400 owners have thought about 451 stroker, because is almost an only option

dont let russ jerk your chain nacho... he rode in a 87 ramcharger with a 400 and KB240 pistons and he liked it  :icon_smile_big:

Just grab the KB, slap on some closed chambered heads and call it good.

400s can be fun. its just more fun to get ya riled up. That ramcharger ran pretty good, you know, for a boat anchor.  :nana:

get some closed chamber heads and those KB pistons and put it together.

i will attest that the KB 240 is a good piston, I had them in a .030 over internally balanced 400 and they did great... massive burnouts.. it was a blast.  I had a baby cam in there too, I should have went one bigger.

As long as the machinist knows what he/she is doing, then you will have no issues.  (that is always the case though).
