This is actually for a 72 Road Runner restoration that a buddy is doing but there seems to be answer here for most anything you can think of, so...
For a 1972 Road Runner with single four barrel and Air Grabber hood, what is the correct air cleaner lid, large oval or small circle?

My brother had a '72 Road Runner back in the day, it was a 440 4bbl automatic Air Grabber car with the large base/ small element and lid. I've seen other non-6 pack cars with the large lid but I don't know if they were "correct" :shruggy:. So to answer your question definitively, I can only attest to the fact that they did come with the small lid but I can't say they didn't come with the large one as well.

Okay thanks, it's a start.  He wants it to be correct so I guess it's the burning local Mopar question of the weekend around here.

Yes, all single 4 barrel cars with airgrabber  were round lid from 1970 thru 1972

1969 the first year for air grabber, is an oval lid regardless of carb

It should look like this:

There is a difference in the base for the 440 and 383.
1969 Dodge Charger 500 440/727
1970 Challenger convertible 340/727
1970 Plymouth Duster FM3
1974 Dodge Dart /6/904
1983 Plymouth Scamp GT 2.2 Auto
1950 Dodge Pilot house pick up

Do you know what those differences entail?  (mostly just curious)
