what do 1.6 rockers do compared to 1.5 rockers? its my understanding it would change my .490 lift to something higher? i need a lesson on what rockers will do to my engine.

MoparYoungGun

1.6 rockers will give you more lift than the 1.5 rockers. Assuming the .490 lift is calculated with 1.5 rockers, with 1.6's it would be approximately .523, this is calculated by dividing .490 by 1.5 to get the lift at the cam. You then take this number (.3266) and multiply it by 1.6 to get the lift with 1.6 rockers. Basically, more lift will give you more horsepower but, you need heads that flow well to do this. This means either getting aftermarket heads or porting the stockers. Hope I have been of some help!

Plumcrazy

They will increase the valve lift.   1.5 and 1.6 refer to the ratio of the arms.
For example with 1.5 rockers and cam lobe thats .300 high, you will get .450 valve lift.
With 1.6 rockers and the same .300 lift at the cam you get .480 valve lift

It's not a midlife crisis, it's my second adolescence.

Your rockers are just levers.  It's like moving the pivot point on a see-saw.

1.6 will also increase your ramp speed..

thanks for your help, i understand it completely now. i do have ported and polished heads so maybe my next investment should be rockers.....its either that or a sniper nos kit, but i know how people on this forum feel about nitrous oxide haha

adding 1.6 rocker will add a small amount of duration @ .050 & overlap as well but I wouldn`t expect a huge gain from it

Deathcharger71, if you saw C.A.T. rockers on E-bay stay away from them! Have a set of Shagnasty,s 440 pistons here at the house I use as ash trays. Brain had 600 miles on his 440-6 pack and was looking for a little more. Installed the CAT roller rockers (same as I bought) and with in 20 minutes trashed the 440.

I was lucky and got Dennies to take (CAT dealer) from the old site took them in trade for the Reed Blower cam. He is the engine bulider for Reed Cams.

Stick with well known name brands, I have 8 ash trays to prove that.
