71 /72 vs 73/74 B body Bucket Seats - what are the differences?

I need a set of 71/72 B-body Bucket Seats and I think I found a set, but couldn't tell if they are 71/72 or 73/74.  I know that the 73/74 buckets are wider, but I do not know by how much.  The seats that I am looking at are 21 inches wide (the seat cushion part).  Also, are the seat frame the same between the two different style.  Thanks in advance.

They are all the same frames/tracks (unless of course you count the 6 way seat track).  Some seats have different covers/foam depending on the style.  Some 71s also had a 2 peice seat back.

all 3rd gens are same size

fisrt half 71 are SLIGHTLY different back frame, also seatback panels and release button. They are like 70s

second half 71 frame are exatly the same than laters, including back panel and release button.

Then all 71 foam is the same, but different than laters. Of course is the same to covers.

72/74 are all the same EXCEPT 74 with diff vinyl grain pattern, but seams and design are the same

Would these 2nd half of 71 seats be correct for a 71 RR?  Mine EV2 RR was ordered with black/orange interior and I need the correct buckets for them.

So it is not true, from what I hear, that 73/74 bottom seat foam is wider than the 71/72.  Can I buy new bucket seat foams for these seats?

The seats themselves are not wider, the foam very well could be.  I really dont know that.  I know they dont make foam for my 73 Charger, so I doubt they do for your 72 RR... but again I am not sure.

71 foam is the same than 70s and I think they are available... same to all B and in fact E bodies...

72/74 definitivelly not available yet AS FAR I KNOW.

they could it be perfectly correct to your 71RR, but also depends of built date &/or when happened the change on asembly line.

I don't think foam is NOTICEABLY WIDER... I think it could be also a cover design look

Thanks for the great information.  I guess in the worst case, I would have to get the correct seat foams for the seats.  Here is my Halloween Roadrunner.
