Reference a higher resolution piture of the red convertible 'bird, I'd be glad to.   :2thumbs:  Problem is, I'm on the other side of the planet at this time, so it will be late January before I'm back at that computer.  Drop me a line then and I'll send the best resolution I have of that picture...I couldn't post a higher resolution version due to the size of the file.  Worst case, I could email it to you.  Talk to you then

I love air grabbers...   :drool5:   If there was one thing I could change about IIGen Chargers, it would be the lack of fresh air induction.

What's your ETA for cruising?

:2thumbs:
ok who has an idea for an air grabber 2nd gen charger that would be a great project . Very  any one hard with the hood and body lines ?         any one any one  ?

Fastbacks too.  There are a few cars out there running the 67 style Super Stock scoop and it just looks so perfect on the 1st gens.

My thinking on a Charger hood would be to keep the same shape of the hood on the top. and cut out the rectangle for the air grabber and re-use this piece on top of the air grabber.  Anyone with me?  the hood would only have a line around the perimeter where the opening is.  :scratchchin:

For sure with the distinctive lines on a 2nd gen hood it seems a shame to not use them but I have to say I'mon the fence here.  That Plymouth style hood looks pretty good on that 70.  :shruggy:

I agree they did a great job.    I was thinking to maybe the 3rd gen style bubble air grabber would have worked also , but like the 70 style you loose the body lines

I have no idea if they were functional, but didn't the 'supercharger' show car have 2 airgrabber type scoops, one in each depression on the charger hood?   :shruggy:

I think the air intakes are functional and electronically controlled in the supercharger

There's a cool MCG article from 1995/6 or so about the SuperCharger in this thread:

http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php/topic,1369.0/all.html

Judging from the text of the article and some of the pictures, the deals in the hood depressions were louvers/vents and not airgrabber scoops.  It would be pretty cool to do a pair of pop-up airgrabber style scoops though.   :scratchchin:

that car was actually a lot different in 68 called the topless charger , it was another concept car , then redone again for the super charger car with the daytona nose.
this is the excact same ,which was a great car in it's self , some one should recreate that car for show .

Time to update your picture there Stuart!
Here are my photo-shop'd creations.
From what I've read, they were heraldic sheilds of various countries on the door scoops.

ok we are starting to scan in the old pictures of the car when the convertible was delivered 10 years ago from long island new york.  We are also scanning all the pictures from the first body shop where the restoration started . These will be all the pictures from the past 10 years , all the other pictures in the thread are just from july first of this year.  At first glance thecar  was very nice looking  , but then when we got it all dismantled you will see what a rust bucket it was. The car got just about every piece of sheet metal we could buy or make.
We also cut an air conditioning firewall out of a 70 charger parts car and the a/c dash with all ducts and heater box . This car was definitly a labor of love, and saved from the junk heap. Now that it is done thought it is so awesome and well worth all the trouble it has caused me .

we will post the pic's soon
  enjoy the pictures

I think it's just great they got Mary Tyler Moore to pose with the car.  (attempted humor)
BTW: in all seriousness,.. there's a 1970 Motor Trend magazine, special "Autoshow: issue, with a pic of the supercharger I've never seen reproduced online, in it,.. If i find it, I'll snap a pic, and post it to the board, i remember the Mag. has a silver cover with a fisheye lens pic of a '70 Vette on the cover...

The 3rd generation bubble almost worked, it was just the 2 hood recesses where the turn signals are that didn't line up. I had the fiberglass bubble on my first '69 Charger & it did look good. (To me anyway.) The previous owner had narrowed the recess on both sides by about 1/3 of the width. He also reworked the ridge where the front of the bubble was by ending it right at the bubble. If he had done more metal work instead of fiberglass, it may not have cracked over the time I had the car. I never got around to taking any pics of it & sold the car with that hood as well as another stock hood I picked up. The overall angle, height, & width of the bubble looked good.
