I'm wondering if I can put BFG 255/70/15's on 15x6in rims. I'm asking because BFG reccomends that the smallest rim you should use is 6.5in wide but, I have seen numerous people put BFG 275/60/15's on 15x10in rims when they (BFG) say the largest rim you should use is 9.5in wide. I have asked this question on two other boards and have been getting conflicting answers regarding my question. So far, I've got 5 people telling me that it will work. However, 3 out of those 5 are telling me that although it will work I'd be better off going with a 7in rim as tire wear and other things will not be ideal with a 6incher. I figured that I would post the question here and let this board be the deciding factor. Thanks for the help guys  !

I will say from mounting tires myself this 1/2" is not too big of deal.  However for legal reasons some tire shops will not mount tires outside of the manufacture suggestion.

Yes tire wear can be a factor.

When I bought my 74 SE it hat 15x10 rims with 255/60's on back. It rode well and everything seemed ok except a little tire rub because of backspace and body lean. One of the first things I did was to change to 15x8 Magnums with 275/60s on back.
