My '66 Charger has dogdish hubcaps on it.  They fit really tight.  My question is... does anyone here have a tip on removing the hubcaps without scratching the hubcap or the painted wheel?  I'm affraid to start digging around with a screwdriver.  Please help.

I hook the flat end of a pry bar under the edge of the cap and place a towel between the bar and the wheel when prying.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

Just 6T9 CHGR

Sometimes a "ladies slipper" prybar works good as well with the aforementioned towel for protection.

You can use the shape of it to pry it off or hook the end under the cap to pull it off

Spotted this on ebay has a rubber end to pry on. Maybe a little tape on the end might help.

That tool is exactly what I use to get mine off, except I bought mine from my local Napa store.  If you install/remove the caps a couple of times in the exact same location (where the wheel nubs contact the hubcap), the hubcap will get widened out a little bit.  That makes them easier to take on and off.  The first time or two, it was really tight, and it actually skinned the wheel's paint up pretty good where the hubcap makes contact.  Now, I can take them off a whole lot easier.  I hope someday I don't have the Bullitt Wheel Cover syndrome, and sling a couple off going around a corner sometime...
