Can anyone tell by my cam card - http://www.holley.com/data/Products/Technical/00032.pdf - what degree my cam should have been installed at?  It doesn't seem to explicitly say how to install it.

Thanks,

- Doug

Doug, the cam card is showing an intake centerline of 107* which is 2* advanced. Check with Lunati and see what they recommend for this grind. Your's might be advanced several degrees which would account for the high dynamic compression readings.  ;)

Fwiw, that's a very old grind with lots of seat timing and modest ramp speed/lift. The newer profiles are much better in terms of idle quality and power under the curve.  ;)

Yep, tried Lunati today and they were closed.  Will call tomorrow and get that info.

I know I know!!!  :yesnod: I've been trying to get my partner in crime (dad) and my builder to get an Engle or Lunati or that Crower you pointed me too.  I DO understand why those are better and I'm TRYING to explain to them the benefits but it's a democracy in my case and I'm being out voted  :brickwall:

We keep going back and forth on getting this cam to work for us vs getting the RIGHT cam...keeping the same cam means a big stall, more initial and less total timing, more gears, ect ect ect....or just getting a nice new Engle/Voodoo/Crower.....ugh it's frustrating.

sry to vent lol but it's building up in me like my 170psi cranking compression  :flame:

Our messages back and forth that been a tremendous help and I've been forwarding your comments on to the appropriate people:)  I think your response here will help my cause!  Keep it coming plz

WOW !

Took a 'Boo at that camcard ?

Seems to be very old technology involved in this grind, not sure what they were trying to do there ? But I ain't no expert.

They want 107 ATDC installed, yet the 050 events rely upon alot of initiated port flow, at low/slow ramps to scavenge with the 12*@050 overlap.
"revvers" in the 230'ish range at "that" lobe seperation, I would have thought, would probably show around 14-16 tilted closer to Intake, with the 4-6* exh closing point, favoring the Intake/234'ish @ .050
I DUNNO !
IMHO, not a good bet, probably better to update the bumpstick, especially if you've got anything other than BONE stock heads, or any headwork at all.

I'm with Ron...update !

Just my opinion, Bob out.
Only wimps wear Bowties !

Well I just talked to Lunati and he said the cam should be degreed at 107*.  He also said that my cylinder pressure in the 170's is fine and that 180's would be more what he'd be expecting....  :o
