Guys do you remember this ?

Ok got this email back:

Hi, I have tried DHL UPS & FedEx for ground shipment...too big. I also checked by someones suggestion Greyhound & there maximum length was 82". The panel is 90" x 42" x 12".
The air freight is too high obviously. I will wait for your response as to how we proceed. If you would like we can just do a mutual agreement to not conclude deal. You are also welcome to check on shipping for yourself. Regards, Dave

please... what can I do ?

i kinda figured that would be an issue when you posted that the other night but i wasn't going to be "rain on the parade guy."  a full quarter is extremely large. greyhound is great until you hit their length max, which is way higher than most other normal carriers.. i have a sad feeling it is going to cost you an arm AND a leg to get that panel down to you

I still think something is fishy... quarters has been sent in the past, The guy was selling a 50s studebaker fender what I think is heavier and probably bigger in someway... hoods are sent, REFRIGERATORS are sent etc...

maybe I made a mistake posting the ebay link on board ? ( even was already on ebay ads )

After reading the reply that you got, I personally think the seller was not happy with the amount the panel sold for??  :shruggy:  But I could be wrong.   Almost sounds like he is hoping that you don't follow through??  I hope it all works out for you!

:iagree: He should have got it crated up and weighed anyway. He knew it would sell. I would also be worried how he packs it too. He needs to make a crate out of 2 by 4s   That's how I always do it if it is a flimsy piece like that. My year one quarter came in a huge box approx. 7 or 8 foot long by 18" across. and 36" high He's not gonna find a box that big. I think he found out he just cant drop it off somewhere without doing some packing.....or he was just testing the waters without a reserve or thought he would get a 2ed gen price out of it - stupid :-\

maybe someone is closer

If you have no vision or creative spirit, you can always fall back on the way the factory did it.

69charger2002

yeah didn't realize miami. that's not a problem then. should cost you $200 or less. try old dominion, yellow freight etc. hoods can be shipped through greyhound but they are not happy about it. 69 charger hoods are basically 52x57x3 or so.. so that is legal for them. though it kind of goes sideways. a long quarter i have only shipped a pair once.. to virginia from louisiana. they were complete original 68 jobbers.. they cost the guy $450 for the pair and they went yellow truck freight
good luck. the way he quickly offered for you to back out. he must have a better offer for them, or like said before.. figured it would go for more..

Nacho,

Where is the part located and what is the part? I am in Michigan and I might be headed to the cruise docks in Miami if I can't get approved for light duty work. I have a suburban, and would be glad to pick it up and deliver it if it's on the way and it will fit in the back of the truck; anything within 10 miles of I-75 from Detroit to Miami will work for me.

I can message you in about three days and or leave you my phone number.  My cast is comes off on the 16th of August and I should know by then if I am leaving or not. I usually try to check the forum each morning, so let me know.

Brian

he is at Lapel Indiana. No Zip code at this moment.
HAHA... if he thinks I will let the quarter go that easy... I have been in troubles trying to get my stuff bought and shipped without credit card, just with trades since ever as you know and now with Credit Card and Paypal account I won't give it up.

Ok... here is my problem: I got two buddies offering help, one at one hour away another one hour and a half, both are 3rd gens owners... don't you think this is like Honey to a Bear... WITHOUT BEES AROUND ? LOL

Editing: noticed both buddies are the same guy, just diff name on 3rd gen site and here LOL.

Nacho,

I just left you a p/m and  I just looked at a map, and I would actually be driving right through Indianapolis if I come down as I'm on the west side of Michigan (used to live in Detroit).

As soon as my Lieutenant is back from vacation and/or I hear sooner, I'll let you know. I'm thinking this is a long shot, but you never know. I already have work to do, I just the need the approval from the big dog before I can go sit on my butt in an office instead of sitting on my butt in my house, in a cast with a broken heel.

Brian

terrible one

I would definitely be concerned. MY thoughts would be to let someone here get it for you and then have them box it and ship it for you for the normal costs.

Nacho-RT74

I'm working on it. I still have a couple of days. The ebay seller is Power Seller rank and 100% good feedback. I don't think he will proceed bad, even temptation is allways there.

I am roughly 3 hours from Indy and live in Marion, Ohio, which is right off 23 . I could pick it up and bring it home, and the guy headed to Miami can pick it up from my place on his way. If there is a member in Indy or near it that could pick it up and meet me halfway, that would be great, too.   Kenny

P.S. Nacho, I'm not a 3g owner, so I have no reason to "borrow" it...  heh heh heh... :nana:

Thanks Buddy... let's wait to Brian first and will trace the plan :P

Bummer guys,

I just found out I'll be heading back to work on Thursday. I was really looking forward to the trip, one to get a much needed vacation, and two, to get to see some chargers and car shows. I realized after looking at the map quest that Lapel would have been easily only 5 minutes out of my way off of I-69. :'(

If for some unseen reason I do get to head south, I'll check with you before I leave just to make sure the part isn't sitting in limbo for the next year.
