8.75 axle

i know very little on rear ends,in the next year i m going to get someone to build my 383 into a 438 stroker,is it possible to make  my 8.75 open into a suregrip??what is needed??also will it be strong enough to cope with 500hp,mostly street use?or should i just go with a dana?changing gears to 3:90 as well.

Yeah, the 8.75 will handle that pretty easily.  To convert you will need to have a suregrip or other type of posi spool installed when you have the new gears installed.
