A Mopar friend of mine got a 59 Chrysler Windsor 383 and got a tranny problem. Tranny oil is being SPITTING from dipstick tube. what could cause this ? easily rebuildable ?

He has a 58 Dodge Custom Royal convert and 57 Chrysler New Yorker  2 doors. Chrysler had 392 Hemi with of course original push button tranny and never got good rebuilt the tranny so he had to change the Hemi for 440 and newer aluminium 727 tranny because the "modern" 727 doesn not bolt on 392 Hemi block. He don't want to pass another rebuilt job without succes with lots of headaches.

Another idea si MAYBE CHANGE the old 383 crank for a newer one where flywheel is bolted and then use a modern 727 tranny. Apparently that old 383 crank uses another attaching method that I couldn't understand by phone.

preffer anyway try to get succes on tranny rebuilt job
Venezuelan RT 74 400 4bbl, 727, 8.75 3.23 open. Now stroked with 440 crank and 3.55 SG. Here is the History and how is actually: http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php/topic,7603.0/all.html

The most common reasons for fluid spitting out the filler tube are being overfull or a clogged breather; if it only does it after a hard pull the fluid could be overheating.

The '62 and newer crank can be installed in the 383 to allow use of the 727 TF and the '62-'65 727 can be adapted to the '59 push button shifter. The problem is that the early cars had the parking brake drum on the transmission and none on the rear end. The one exception is the '62 only full sized car which had a 727 with a parking brake on the tail. These are getting hard to find.
