That looks like the kit I have that I got back in 2003.  Only difference is that mine has a metal bushing on the bottom part of the shaft versus the plastic one shown in the pic.  That ballast resistor also looks more factory than the one I got.  The one in the picture has the gold cad metal mounting bracket vs. the porcelin one I had come in my kit.  Decent price too. :2thumbs:

That's the one AND CHEAP against stock prices, thats the price for JUST the dist

nothing to replace, just add the wiring coming with kit

stock dist are with plastic bushings, and replacement bushings are like a "hat" that works the same, and I would say better, to seal more from oil vapors.

I thought the price was very decent. :yesnod:

My old ignition has the distributor, the 'black box', ballast resistor and the coil.
So what part(s) does the orange box replace when you go electronic?
You still need a coil right? My stock coil needs to be replaced, it leaks oil.
I already changed out the spark plugs and wires with new ones.

So with this kit I only need a new coil , correct?

Thanks for the advice, bro's!

black box ? what Black box ? you mean probably the regulator ?

If you have a complete stock points system from fact and change to electronic, you need just to replace the regulator for an electronic one what is not included on kit and dist. Ballast can be used the same actually one but if you already have the new one on kit, go for it.  Coil is the same even if you have it damaged, then change. Of course, then add what is no replace LOL, the Ignition module and wiring.

Regulator... even electronic ignition system could work with old mechanical regulator, will be just that: WORKING , but is better go for the right one to get the right performance. Electronic ignition system needs better power regulation and electronic will give you that, better average power to get a better response.

and now, if you have mechanical regulator and change to electronic regulator then that it means you have old alt one field system. Electronic regulator is matched to work with double field alts. Old alt can be modifyed to work like laters double field alts. You will need just to get the brush and isolator and open a hole with a drill on back of alt housing to place this new brush and isolator assembly. That, or change to a laters alt. Will neeed aslo get the reg pigtail and add a new blue wire running to alt.

Another easier solution would it be go with an old fashion looks regulator but electronically upgraded inside and then you won't need to change nothing on charging system but the regulator itself. Will be just plug and play job ( no alt change or mod the old one, no wire added or pigtail ). Dunno how is its regulation performance but I bet will be better than the complete stock mechanical one.

thanks Nacho, apreciate it!
I changed out some parts of the ignition system yesterday, she's back on the road now.
(seemed to be a problem with the choke valve, go figure :slap: )
Soon the kit will be ordered.
Thanks for the lesson in the electric stuff ;D
