Someone please explain how it can be a completely restored car but never have been painted? One of those two sentences would have to contradict the other wouldn't it?

I just emailed the shop that is advertising the red/white Daytona asking them to explain the ad.  We'll see what they say.  I'm thinking the car WAS original until this shop got their hands on it but it should be interesting to hear.

So Troy, what's the info on the 440-4 speed (Les Bowman) car?

No idea.. Dave, Danny or Geno would be the gurus... I'm pretty good with Daytona history, but not on individual cars.. :ahum:

They say in the ad that this is the first time it's been offered for sale -- then I suppose it was "unofficially" for sale back in October of 2005 for $375k, because that what I had logged for it back then.

I would absolutely love to spend a few hours going over that car and its Fender Tag (Broadcast sheet too, if it's with the car), but I don't know if I'll ever get that chance.  It's been out of circulation for some time...

Some one correct me if I'm wrong here, but wasn't this car also for sale in the late 80's? I thought that Larry Bell used to own this car, but I could be wrong on that one. I know he had several odd ball Daytona's at one time or another.

Nope.  Les Bowman to John Rizek in 1977.    Been there since.

They have been advertizing that car every since they got the car 65post.  That is in fact your old car Dave.  $350,000 Canadian is the asking price when it gets finished.

thanks for the correction Doug.

At $350,000 they must like looking at it! Am I wrong or is that grossly overpriced?  I live in the heart of rich idiot land and I see most of those guys pulling way back on their spending which of course is having a trickle down effect on the prices of cars.  What some are asking for them and what the ones that really sell are going for seems to be of considerable difference. :Twocents:

That is often the case even in the boom times, but it's much more noticeable these days.  No seller wants to be leading the way on a downturn, so they'll still be asking bull (no pun intended) price well into a bear market trend - probably in an effort to stave off depreciation of what they're trying to sell.

This is still a pretty rare car, even within the ranks of Daytonas.  You'd think there would be some premium associated with it, but only the person that eventually buys it will determine what that premium is.
