does anyone make headers that fit anymore? is that to much to ask?  69 charger, 440 manual trans, and power steering. man, you used to be able to buy just  a regular set of common ordinary street headers that at least fit.   and  for around a hundred bucks.   are those days gone?  i don't mean to be an ass picker here, but is that to much to ask?      opinions wanted on who makes such an animal.    pissed off with torch in hand and beer in fridge. have used both to no avail

if you want quality headers you have to buy TTI's or at least Hookers, they fit fine with stock heads.

I wouldn't recommend Hooker Headers.  They are the worst. At least mine were. I got sick of burning the boots off my plug wires, it was getting expensive to replace them. Mostly on the right side. The left side isn't too bad.  So one day I got pissed and yanked the right side header out and re-configured it. I would like to have TTI's but they are way out of my price range.

I'm having the same problem with my car right now.  Below is a pic of the driver side header.  This is a Hooker Comp by the way.  This whole ordeal is pissing me off big time.  My only thing left to do is put the manual steering box back on so the damn headers fit, seems to be the only way without denting the one tube.  I have not bothered to install the passenger side one yet although it can't be anywhere as bad as the driver side.

nice work. the brand of headers i have are so old that they have a 4 bolt collector. the pass side was the pain. had to chop and patch. hated to do it, but i really didnt have anything to lose. suprisingly, the drivers side fits like a glove. i do have a set of hookers just like your before pic, but didnt try them in the car {just on the stand], because i wouldve hit the bottom power wire on the small mitts starter. i just wish they would make an affordable set that would fit. funny thing is, i dont remember having these many problems with headers back in the days.      bruce

Looks just like my Hedmans - I wrapped the tube so it didn't bang as bad on the steering box.  It still sucks.

I had the exact same stearing rub issue on mine.  They came with the car when i bought it so I dont know who made them.  But I took them off the driver side and just hit it with a hamer so it would not touch my searting box.  I need to replace them when I get some cash so for now the hammer was my best tool in the box so I could get the car on the road.  I think custom is the best bet from what I have seen.
