I have an original 383 4 brl never taken apart 'cept timing chain and oil pump couple years ago.I put on a mopar electronic ing kit."Direct Connection" part Orange Box.1974 OEM part All in factory box .The motor runs great, starts great, doesn't overheat, timing is about 30 or so degrees above TDC or 2 1/4 Inches past the O mark on the dampener at 2ooo RPM,with  the vac hose plugged. Problem is that I can't get this car to even hardly burn or chirp the tires, the motor stumbles, Chokes ,Just does not roar from a standing start. It runs great in passing gear, and when opening up all four. Anybody have any thing for me to try??

I had the same problem a week ago after reinstalling my carb.  Turned out the accelerator pump arm was jammed on the intake manifold so basically it wasn't working.  Probably not your problem but it could be the pump or maybe your just running too lean at idle?   :Twocents:

what carb is on there, guessing the old thermoquad, which I've never messed with. they will have an accelerator pump system though, called a squirter controlled by a cam on the holley's.
If you've got the timing ok and everything runs well at speed, then your problem is there, its either bogging or going lean when you press the gas. Chryco is the thermoquad guru, he'll chirp in when he gets around... until then you could probably do a search on the board for the keywords I mentioned and find something on the boards, this question comes up a lot.

thanks Its a carter AVS four barrell,Ill check the Squirt an see. any rebuild kits for this around?

Sounds like the squirter is not working. The Carters used a leather seal for the squirter and it dries out after a time. Summit sell rebuild kits.
