Thanks mostly to the threads in the wheels/tires/suspension section I ordered a set of Centerline Softails, and they finally got in this week.  They're unbelievably light!  Probably lighter than my 15" Cragars.  17x7 up front with zero offset (4"BS I think?) and 18x9.5 with 5" BS.  I'll update with more pics after the tires are mounted!

It's alive!! After sorting out a headlight ground and adjusting a stuck parking brake, we took it out for a tire-smoking spin around town at 11 pm!  It was lightning-ing like crazy!  It had poured earlier but we didn't hit any rain, but what a light show  :2thumbs:  The new shoes ride great!  No rubs in the back!  Haven't done a lock-to-lock yet but I have a feeling it'll be fine.  Here are some pics..it's still FILTHY from the work on the 1/4

The bugle sounds the charge begins. But on this battlefield no one wins.

Hey guys, thanks for the compliments.  The wheels are centerlines, but I agree, they look like modern keystones :2thumbs:  The ford is a '57, don't remember the model, but it's all original, original owner, original paint, interior, etc.  He bought it the year he graduated high school, and brings it to every class reunion

Wow......... That is a true "survivor"  I often wonder if I'll even make it to 50 let alone keep a car that long....especially in original condition!

Nice wheels on a nice Charger. You didn't mention tire sizes though. What might they be?
I have a soft spot for green Chargers with black vinyl tops and black interiors. I had a '69 in high school with that combo. Speaking of a '69....... is that a '69 tail panel and taillights?

The tires are 235/45/17s and 295/45/18s, Nitto NT555s.  The tailpanel is actually my stock '70, I just took the '70 trim off and put some '69 trim on the taillights.  I'm debating whether or not to buy the '69 trim that goes around the panel itself ($$$).  The reason I switched it is because I love the '69 tail panels.  The '70 trim reminds me of eyeglasses from the '70s with that straight connector piece over the bridge :shruggy:

The lower 1/4 was rotted away and the entire panel had been replaced in the '80s then bondo'd over with what must've been a gallon of bondo.  It's part of my slow plan to return the car to all metal :eek2:   The trunk just happens to match because I just bought it at carlisle.  Much nicer than my old one.
