Are the 5.9 R/T Dakotas very fast?

I've seen a few of them run the 1/4 mile but I've never really taken note of the times they run. Seems like they don't do too bad, like maybe the mid 13s or so but that may not be out of the box. :shruggy: I suppose it's a horsepower to weight issue as with anything, and I'm guessing they're not very light. How much hp do those 5.9s put out from the factory? I think they look pretty nice anyway. I wonder how they compare to a stock classic Charger R/T out of the box? Anyone own one and race it?

Looks like they'll do 125 anyway: http://youtube.com/watch?v=xdhEbiXhVpY :icon_smile_big:

my 4.7L 5spd extended cab (but not 4-door), 4x4, 3.55s does 110 in 4th :yesnod:  with 20psi in the tires to boot :eek2:  I would guess a 2wd, lower dak with a 5.9 would be much quicker

my old 2000 dakota r/t club cab, with a few mod (k&n intake, mopar performance ecu, ported throtle body), ran 14.77@94in the 1/4

the big issue with those truck, for sure is the weight, but they are well calibrate, with 3.92 ratio 9.25 diff

i put the same mechanic in my dodge dart, the only mod was double exhaust with dynomax, headers, mopar performance ecu, and a 3.55 diff, i ran 14.4 at 97 mph

a stock 360 have 245 hp (250 in the r/t cause its a different exhaust), and 345 lbs of torque

and can you tell me why i had sell them :brickwall:

and since you guy like picture, here's some

and my fuel injected dodge dart

He's right..they have a weight problem..but can be fast..I've seen some in the 12's..but the average RT will only be about mid 14's at best in the 1/4...now anything with SRT in the name might be a different story.  ;)

My '93 4x4 has a factory 230hp 318 in it, and it goes pretty good. I also have a problem with wheel spin all the time with the true posi in it when it is raining or in the snow. On hot days it sometimes is hard to not cherp the tires around corners. And that is with all-terrain tires on it (not the ones on it in the picture). Of course, I can really smoke them too when I want :D I love driving the truck :yesnod:
