Fixing a rather large chip in my paint...advice anyone?

 :brickwall:

So I am re-aliging my trunk lid and when I close it I realize I chipped the edge.  This resulted in a 1 inch by 1/2 inch peel in the paint.

I painted the car base/clear and did the job myself.  I can prep the chip and get everything smooth but how do I paint just this area without getting the tape lines?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Stupid.  Stupid.  Stupid.

I'm not sure what you mean by "use a blender"...

Everything else makes sense though.

Thanks in advance!

It happens, don't feel bad
It's not too bad a fix, I had to do my '70 after I painted it for a bondo crack, anyway:
1- mask the area about 2 feet from the repair
2- sand chip area and  scotch briteĀ® the surrounding 2 feet
3- base coat chip area until its level with original paint..let dry
4- clear coat repair area PLUS a 1-2 foot area around it so it blends in
5 after clear is dry, buff out and should match perfect
good luck!
