Ah but there are 500's with a vinyl roof as well, which is another reason I say never say never with old Ma Mopar.

There isn't anything in any of the paperwork that I've seen that says that you couldn't have gotten a sunroof in a 69 Charger 500. The only options listed as unavailable, are A/C, and a rear luggage rack. Which we all know that they made several with A/C.

Seriously, Danny - I don't have anything that excludes A/C from the '69 Charger500s.  There are three documents I have that list the only two exclusions for the 500 being 1. Vinyl Roof and 2. Luggage Rack.  They did have another caveat about the back window being clear if tinted glass was ordered, but that was it.  Those exclusions are listed on the Confidential Price Bulletin, the Bulletin #1 Dealer Intro, and Bulletin #4 (allowed the 440).  You might have some other info that I don't have, so I wouldn't say they never listed A/C as an exclusion.  It's just not something I've seen myself.

There is always more to learn, and MaMopar definitely contradicted herself quite frequently though.  My guess is that there weren't any C500's with either (factory-sanctioned) vinyl roofs or (factory-sanctioned) sunroofs.

I`ll bet if you have early info it would say no a/c.The hemi was the only engine avail at first.

You're right, it would have been inferred by the Hemi-only requirement, sorta like a no vinyl roof also meant no sunroof.  However, here's a copy of Bulletin #1 which makes no mention of A/C.

I don't remember which paper it is that I have that states, that they couldn't come with A/C, but if you read it it is obvious that the only reason they exclude A/C as an option is due to origionally only being sold with HEMI's. Or at least that was their origional goal.

I still say that an E-body luggage rack will fit on that shortened deck lid. And I also think that a luggage rack on a 500 would look good, if it also had the M25 sill mouldings.

As far as the whole factory installed versus dealer installed vinyl roofs well that one to me is uncertain. Uncertain due to some conflicting stories I've heard of various cars over the years. And having only seen 2 vinyl top cars in person, both of which were dealer installed vinyl tops, I can't make an definative statement either way. But I do know that the trim was different on each of those cars.

Here's an example of a Charger sunroof, compared to that of the later Cordoba-based B body, for comparison.

I would rather had Ma Mopar make "T" tops on the 71/72 Chargers.  That would look awesome.
