QuoteIt is cool that you guys can afford and appreciate a old classic car. But I am curious as to how you young guys can afford to buy and restore your cars. When I was in my teens back in the 1970s and early '80s, beater cars (like some of these started out as) were only $500, or much less.... and they were running and driving cars. Now beater Chargers are $5,000. My thought are that you have wealthy parents and or a good money source?   I mean, I can't afford to do anything with my car now little alone way back when.

Well, I found a really good deal on mine, and it didnt need much when I bought it. I am 17 now and I bought it when I was 16, so ive had it less than a year. I do get help from my parents every once in a while, but 90% of the time, I just save my money for what ever it needs.

I found mine in a field when I turned 15, got my first job and saved to get it! Now I have a loan for the motor, and two jobs going paycheck to paycheck while I go to college. :eek2:

Got mine when I was 17 back in 1978 for $1000. Worked at a resturaunt to pay back the loan at $38 a month :icon_smile_big: And just now am restoring it. Time does fly :angelwing: You young guns will soon find out how fast.

I was working at my high school when I bought mine. I paid $5200 for it at the time. It run and drove but needed a resto. I was working 3 hours a day after school my sophmore and junior year and 3 hours after lunch my senior year. I only went to school a half day my senior year so I hung out during all 3 lunches and went to work right after. It was paying right close to $10 an hour so it wasnt bad money, and I really didnt spend it on much else. My parents helped out quite a bit too as well did my grandma before she died. Ive bought and sold a few cars and a 4-wheeler to help out too.
