Just wondering if there are any teenagers who own chargers, or am I am the only one?

There are quite a few on this site. I'm 17 and I've got a 383 Sport Satellite. I'd like to have a charger too...along with an A12 car, cuda/challenger, 71-72 satellite....the list goes on...

19 here...got my charger alittle over a year and a half ago.
Daddy ran whiskey in a big black dodge
bought it at an auction at the masons lodge,
Johnson County Sherriff painted on the side,
just shot a coat of primer then he looked inside,
well him and my uncle tore that engine down,
I still remember that rumblin' sound.....

It is cool that you guys can afford and appreciate a old classic car. But I am curious as to how you young guys can afford to buy and restore your cars. When I was in my teens back in the 1970s and early '80s, beater cars (like some of these started out as) were only $500, or much less.... and they were running and driving cars. Now beater Chargers are $5,000. My thought are that you have wealthy parents and or a good money source?  :shruggy: I mean, I can't afford to do anything with my car now little alone way back when.

I had (moved recently) a really good job at an ice cream shop. I was the owners right hand man. I would come in and open/run the store on Sundays when he would take his Big Dog chopper out. I would also run the shop for a week while he was at Sturgis. I was closing the store 4-5 nights a week working about 30-35 hours a week on top of school. I would make pretty good tips working there as wel(30 bucks in a 5 hour shift during the summer)l. I also used to scrap metal during the summer. I would go to the auctions at the university and buy all the broken stainless steel and aluminum scientific equipment. One time I got a set of weights to calibrate equipment. It was a total of about 100 pounds (8 or so weights), these things were solid blocks of aluminum...I got it for 5 bucks. I also don't really buy much of anything else. Just if I feel like going out to lunch or renting/going to a movie. My parents haven't given me any money for the car or any car parts.

I opened up a savings account with my parents on it when I was about 11, and would put my birthday money, etc. in there ( I didn't have anything else to spend it on). Also in there went money that I inherited from my grandfather, money from selling things on Ebay, garage sales, working odd jobs for people such as cleaning up lots, etc. When I was 15 I had about $3,900 in there, and bought my Charger for $3,600 (as I said), and the rest was spent on gas, etc. Therefore, I ended up with a Charger and no money to spend on it. Still, I think I got a pretty good deal on the Charger. When I turned 16, I worked that summer on a farm doing general cleanup and maintenance, but then went to high school the following year and had no job so that I could focus on school. With a little money back, I was working on the Charger off and on a bit, but most of that was spent on sandpaper and stuff like that. Starting this summer I got a job at a restaurant as a dishwasher, and that is what is funding my Charger project so far, little by little. . .

Well my dad got me mine.....back in 98 for $400.  If I were to find another Charger that is in the same shape mine was when we got it...it would probally be $2000+
