Does anyone use vaccum 12v pumps to help with brake issues with a higher cam?

Friend of mine who has a 68 Caprice with a huge blower on it has the electric vacuum pump to help his power disc brakes out.  Works like a charm.

I run one, MPB unit, works well but is almost impossible to find a place to put it, unless
you have a 70 with no vacuum can. This is a 7yr old unit, the new ones they sell are very
different.

I had one like 8Wheeler's. They originally came on mid 80's gm fwd cars and some motorhomes. I used to see them once and a while at the wrecking yards. A good place to put it is under the battery tray. I relocated the vacuum can to the area between the grill and radiator to get it to fit. Try to get the bracket too because it is isolated with rubber and will reduce the noise.

So all in all do these work well, what is the best braking system to use, if not going with disc brakes?  Should I just upgrade to disc before investing in this.  how about Hydro-boost system?

Mike and I have disc brakes, we still needed the pump to stop safely with our low vacuum.
